The coupling element is formed by an elongated flexible element and a mounting plate connected thereto to which the navigation apparatus is mounted, and a securing element connected to the coupling element. The securing element is arranged as clamping mechanism.

Abstract: A navigation system 1 comprises a navigation apparatus 5 and coupling means for securing the navigation apparatus to the dashboard 3 of a vehicle. The coupling means are formed by an elongated flexible element 11 and a mounting plate 9 connected thereto to which the navigation apparatus is mounted and securing means connected to the element 11. These securing means are arranged as clamping means 7. By arranging the securing means of the navigation system as clamping means 7, the navigation system can be fixed to, for example, a projecting edge of the dashboard 3 of a motor car. The clamping force can then be so great that the navigation system 1 does not loosen from the dashboard in the event of vibration. In addition, the navigation system can be clamped to the dashboard at the location where it does not obstruct the driver's visibility.
