    Abstract: An optical proximity sensor assembly includes an optical proximity sensor with an IR LED emitting light having an infrared wavelength, an IR photo detector sensitive to the infrared wavelength, an optical barrier blocking direct light rays from the LED to the IR photo detector and permitting reflected light rays to reach the at least one photo detector; and an electronic integrated circuit with an amplifier for amplifying a signal detected by the photo detector, an analog to digital converter, LED drivers, noise reduction and ambient light cancellation circuitry, and a digital interface for communication with a microcontroller. The optical proximity sensor is accommodated on a wearable carrier. A single sensor may include a plurality of identical or different LEDs, a plurality of photodiodes, or both. Also, several sensors may be placed on a person's skin along a vascular path to obtain data relating to blood flow and artery stiffness.

    Abstract: A periodic signal generator includes a resonant LC tank circuit that generates a periodic reference signal at a first frequency at a differential output thereof. A temperature-responsive frequency compensation module is electrically coupled to the differential output of the resonant LC tank circuit. This module includes a temperature dependent voltage control module that generates a temperature dependent control voltage and an array of switchable capacitive modules that is electrically coupled to a first node of the differential output of the resonant LC tank circuit and responsive to the temperature dependent control voltage and a plurality of switching coefficients. The array of switchable capacitive modules includes a fixed capacitor having a first terminal electrically coupled to the first node and a voltage-controlled variable capacitor having a first terminal electrically coupled to the first node.

    Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the invention provide a system, method and apparatus for frequency calibration of a free-running, harmonic oscillator. A reference oscillator provides a reference frequency. An exemplary system comprises the harmonic oscillator, a frequency divider, a comparator, and a reactance modulator. The oscillator comprises a plurality of switchable reactance modules and a coefficient register, and provides an oscillation signal having an oscillation frequency. The frequency divider provides an output frequency as a fraction of the oscillation frequency. The comparator compares the output and reference frequencies and provides a comparison signal when the output frequency is not substantially equal to the reference frequency.
