    Abstract: Communications connectors are provided that include a printed circuit board that has a top side and a bottom side. These connectors each include a housing that receives at least a portion of the printed circuit board. The connectors include first through eighth input contacts that are mounted on the printed circuit board and first through eighth output contacts that are likewise mounted on the printed circuit board. The connectors further include a board edge termination assembly that has an opening that receives an edge of the printed circuit board. The compensating coupling device disturbs the crosstalk balance of a second pair combination. In addition, compensating coupling devices in the second pair combination can be adjusted to counteract any crosstalk disturbances caused by the corrective coupling device.

    Abstract: A scheme for compensating for both near-end (NEXT) and far-end (FEXT) crosstalk within a communication connector having first and second pairs of contact wires. A first stage of compensation includes capacitive coupling that corresponds in magnitude to a sum of offending capacitive and offending inductive crosstalk both of which originate from a mating connector. At a second stage of compensation, both (a) inductive coupling corresponding in magnitude to the offending inductive crosstalk, and (b) capacitive coupling corresponding in magnitude and of opposite polarity to the inductive coupling, are produced. In the disclosed embodiment, the first and the second compensation stages are implemented in an industry type RJ-45 communication jack to meet or surpass Category 6 NEXT/FEXT loss levels.

    Abstract: Electrical connectors for electrically and physically connecting cable conductors to mating connectors frequently require precise and demanding assembly in order to produce a required level of crosstalk. In many instances, this level must be a set amount, rather than the lowest level possible, in order to match a canceling crosstalk being produced in the mating connector. The present invention is a crossover lead frame connector which reduces the demands upon the assembler in assembling the connector and cable, and yet still provides the precise level of crosstalk required in the connector. These advantages are realized by the use of a crossover lead frame structure which controls the physical length and routing of the signals between the cable conductors and connector pins. This allows the manufacturer to match the connector to the layout of the cable conductors and fix the level of crosstalk that will be produced at the time the connector is manufactured.

    Abstract: Connectors, such as 110-type patch plugs, are designed to reduce near-end crosstalk that is generated when the connector is mated to a corresponding receptacle, such as a 110-type connecting block. Connectors of the present invention employ a two-stage crosstalk compensation scheme in which a first stage induces a compensating crosstalk signal, having opposite polarity as the original crosstalk signal, while the second stage induces a counter-balancing crosstalk signal, having same polarity as the original crosstalk signal. The two-stage, counter-balanced crosstalk compensation scheme of the present invention takes into account both the magnitude of the original crosstalk signal as well as the phase differences between the original crosstalk signal and the compensating and counter-balancing crosstalk signals that result from the different locations along the signal path at which the crosstalk signals are induced.

    Abstract: Connectors, such as 110-type patch plugs, are designed to reduce near-end crosstalk that is generated between the twisted pairs of multi-wire cordage. Connectors of the present invention have a wire guide having a plurality of channels within which the different twisted pairs and ultimately the individual wires are distributed from the cordage to corresponding conducting contacts of the connectors. The channels of the wire guide enable improved control over the twist rates of the different twisted pairs as well as the routing paths between the cordage and the contacts which reduces the level of near-end crosstalk as well as variability in that level from one connector assembly to another. In one particular embodiment, the connector has a four-piece modular design (not counting the individual contacts) having separate wire guide, contact base, top cover, and bottom cover.
