  • Patent number: 7954286
Abstract: A target piece for sealing mechanical penetrations in single ply roofing membranes is provided. The target piece comprises a left piece and a right piece, or a single unified piece. The left piece can be applied on one side of the one or more mechanical penetrations, and the right piece can be applied on an opposite side of the one or more mechanical penetrations. Alternatively, the unified piece can be applied on the one or more mechanical penetrations. Left and right curb elements are attached to a top of the left piece and right piece, respectively. Faces of the left and right pieces are sealed to each other and faces of the left and right curb elements are sealed to each other using an adhesive/heat seal, thus forming a pocket around the mechanical penetrations, and then sealant is poured into the pocket to seal the mechanical penetrations. Extensions are provided on ends of either the right or left pieces of the target piece to provide extra insurance against water leakage.

  • Publication number: 20100224307
Abstract: A method of increasing the shear and tensile strength of spliced reinforcement panels used in roofing and waterproofing applications. The method is accomplished by facing and aligning at least two reinforcement panels in an end-to-end fashion on a roof deck in such a way that a seam is formed between the at least two reinforcement panels. A UV curable adhesive is then applied across the seam in a saw-tooth pattern and cured with a UV light source. The resultant spliced reinforcement panels will have a maximum load of approximately 34.4 to 48.8 lbf and a tensile strength of approximately 2.3 to 2.8%.

  • Publication number: 20080207543
Abstract: The intramuscular electroporated injection of a protease-resistant growth hormone-releasing hormone (“GHRH”) cDNA into rat dams at 16 days of gestation resulted in the enhanced long-term growth of the FI offspring. The offspring were significantly heavier by one week of age and the difference was sustained to 10 weeks of age. Consistent with their augmented growth, plasma IGF-I concentration of the FI progeny was increased significantly. The pituitary gland of the offspring was significantly heavier, and contained an increased number of somatotropes (cells producing GH) and lactotrophs (prolactin-secreting cells), and is indicative of an alteration in cell lineages. These unique findings demonstrate that enhanced GHRH expression in pregnant dams can result in intergenerational growth promotion, by altering development of the pituitary gland in the offspring.
