In one embodiment, an exemplary method includes displaying a plurality of drag and droppable widgets within a computer generated graphical environment, each icon associated with a component of an event algorithm; processing a plurality of the widgets in a predetermined order when such widgets are arranged in a sequence corresponding to steps in the event algorithm; monitoring data feeds relating to an event of interest, wherein the event of interest is selected from the group comprising of stock changes, news events, market events, and regulatory events; and executing the action within a time period P when conditions defined by the event algorithm are satisfied.
