  • Patent number: 11908356
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method present augmented reality (AR) imagery at an AR display device with contextual, adaptive brightening control. The AR display device includes eyeglasses having lenses positioned in front of eyes of a person. A first camera sensor detects ambient light. An AR projector displays AR imagery on the lenses. A second camera sensor is configured to detect whether the eyes of the person are open or closed. A controller of the electronic device is communicatively coupled to the AR display device. The controller detects brightness of the ambient light. The controller dynamically adjusts brightness of the AR imagery in relation to the brightness of the ambient light. The controller reduces the brightness of the AR imagery in response to determining a brightness context that the eyes of the person have been closed for longer than threshold period of time.

  • Patent number: 11903730
Abstract: Described are systems and methods that use one or more two-dimensional (ā€œ2Dā€) body images of a body to determine body fat measurements of that body. For example, a standard 2D camera of a portable device, such as a cell phone, tablet, laptop, etc., may be used to generate one or more 2D body images of a user. Those 2D body images, or image, may be processed using the disclosed implementations to determine a body fat measurement of the body represented in the image.

  • Publication number: 20240056493
Abstract: A method in a conferencing system terminal device includes detecting, with one or more processors during a videoconference, a communication device electronically in communication with both a content presentation companion device having a display and one or more remote electronic devices engaged in the videoconference. User input requesting for content to be shared from the conferencing system terminal device with the one or more remote electronic devices engaged in the videoconference is received. Prior to causing the communication device to share the content with the one or more remote electronic devices during the videoconference the one or more processors present, on the display of the content presentation companion device, a content verification presentation and receive a content share confirmation in response to the content verification presentation.

  • Publication number: 20240034333
Abstract: An electronic system, a method, and a computer program product support wireless communication with reduced distraction for a driver experiencing challenging driving conditions. The method includes communicating, via a communication subsystem of an electronic system and via a communication network, with a first electronic device participating in a communication session with at least one second electronic device, the communication session hosted by the electronic system. In response to determining that the first electronic device is being used by a driver in a vehicle, the method includes: receiving data about the first electronic device that indicates whether current driving conditions allow the driver to communicate without degrading driving performance; and restricting transmission of new communication inputs from the communication session to the first electronic device to reduce distractions to the driver when the received data indicates the driver is potentially in a challenging driving condition.

  • Publication number: 20240034332
Abstract: An electronic system, a method, and a computer program product support wireless communication with reduced distraction for a driver experiencing challenging driving conditions. The method includes connecting to a communication session with second electronic device(s) via a communication subsystem of the electronic device and via a communication network. The method includes receiving an indication of a challenging driving condition from a first image stream from image capturing device(s) positionable to have a field of view encompassing a face of a driver of a vehicle and/or a detected condition from sensor(s) that detects external conditions to the vehicle that can require the driver to be more attentive while the vehicle is in motion. In response to receiving the indication of the challenging driving condition, the method includes communicating a notification over the communication session to the second electronic device(s), the notification indicating that the driver is in the challenging driving condition.

  • Patent number: 11888635
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that automatically manages compliance by a participant during a video communication session. The electronic device communicatively connects over a network to second electronic device(s) during a video communication session. The electronic device receives image stream(s) produced respectively by an image capturing device of a corresponding second electronic device. The electronic device identifies person(s) within the image stream(s) and compares to a roster of at least one person expected to join the video communication session to produce attendance data. The electronic device determines participation data related to an amount of time that the person(s) gaze toward the image capturing device of the corresponding second electronic device. The electronic device communicates, to a host output device, the attendance data and the participation data of the person(s) during a duration of the video communication session.

  • Patent number: 11885979
Abstract: High-performance optical-metasurface-based components configured to at frequencies of UV light and, in particular, in deep UV range and performing multiple optical-wavefront-shaping functions (among which there are high-numerical-aperture lensing, accelerating beam generation, and hologram projection). As a representative material for such components, hafnium oxide demands creation and establishment of a novel process of manufacture that is nevertheless based on general principles of Damascene lithography, to be compatible with existing technology and yet sufficient for producing high-aspect-ratio features that currently-used materials and processes simply do not deliver. The described invention opens a way towards low-form-factor, multifunctional ultraviolet nanophotonic platforms based on flat optical components and enabling diverse applications including lithography, imaging, spectroscopy, and quantum information processing.

  • Patent number: 11889178
Abstract: An electronic device, a method and a computer program product for camera adjustments based on eye gaze tracking. The method includes capturing, via a front facing camera, an image stream containing a face of a user and determining, via a processor, an eye gaze direction based on images retrieved from the image stream. The eye gaze direction corresponds to a location where the user is looking. In response to determining that the user is looking away from the front surface of the electronic device and towards a direction within a field of view of a rear facing camera, the method further includes identifying image characteristics of the location, generating camera settings of the rear facing camera based on the eye gaze direction/characteristics of the location and adjusting the rear facing camera using the generated camera settings such that the rear facing camera focuses on the location.

  • Patent number: 11889221
Abstract: Techniques for selective video conference segmentation are described and are implementable in a video conference setting. The described implementations enable control over segments of video content that are viewable by a given participant in a video conference. For instance, segments of video content are generated that represent spatial portions of video content captured by a host device. The segments can be configured in a variety of ways for inclusion in one or more video streams. The video streams can be communicated to different participants within the video conference, for instance based on a status of a given participant, thus providing different fields of view to different participants.

  • Publication number: 20240022815
Abstract: An electronic device includes a device housing supporting a user interface, one or more touch sensors, and at least one image capture device. One or more processors cause, in response to the user interface receiving user input initiating a video capture operation, the at least one image capture device to capture a plurality of video frames. The plurality of video frames are processed with a first video stabilization operation when the electronic device is supported by a multi-handed touch input and a second video stabilization operation when the electronic device is supported by a single-handed touch input. The first video stabilization operation crops less of each image than the second video stabilization operation since the electronic device is likely more stable when supported by the multi-handed touch input.

  • Patent number: 11870825
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that prompt a person who is participating in a video communication session to gaze toward a local image capturing device. A controller of the electronic devices receives an image stream from an image capturing device configured to be spaced away from a display device and having a field of view that incorporates a person that is proximate to the display device. The controller communicates the image stream to a video communication session. The controller receives second image stream(s) from second communication device(s) and presents the second image stream(s) at a display device. In response to a trigger that indicates that the first image stream is being presented as a primary image stream by the at least one second electronic device, the controller presents a prompt indicating that the participant should gaze toward the image capturing device.

  • Patent number: 11871048
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that automatically focus on meaningful content in an image stream during an instruction-oriented video communication session. The electronic device communicatively connects the electronic device via a network to image stream transmitting (IST) electronic device(s) during a video communication session. A controller of the electronic device identifies a person and a writing surface within an image stream received from the IST electronic device. In response to determining that the person is attending to the writing surface, the controller presents on display device(s) a first portion of the image stream that focuses on the writing surface. In response to determining that the person is not attending to the writing surface, the controller presents on the display device(s) a second portion of the image stream that does not focus on the writing surface.
