Patent number: 7364210Abstract: A tamper-proof seal is disclosed for use in connection with sterilization containers. The seal includes a body portion including a sterilization indicating material and a tongue extending from the body portion. The tongue may be in the form of a laminate consisting of a pair of substantially inert outer layers sandwiching a high shrink inner layer. The tongue is designed to engage the latch mechanism of a sterilization container when the container is in the closed position and the latch mechanism is in a latched position. Upon exposure of the container to sterilization conditions, the tongue shrinks, causing the outer layers to fold upon themselves to form at least one pleat. The container latch mechanism cannot be opened without fracturing the tongue of the seal, thereby providing visible evidence of the latch mechanism being opened.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Medin CorporationInventors: Jay D. Schainholz, Eugene Ogman, Amos Shamir

Publication number: 20020162841Abstract: A single-action latch operates to hold a lid in assembled relationship to the receptacle of a medical case or other container. The latch includes an engaging member connected to the receptacle for pivoting movement between a latched position in which a hook portion of the engaging member extends up and over the top of the lid to hold the container in the closed condition, and an open position in which the hook portion is spaced from the lid so that the lid may be removed from the receptacle. An actuator assembled between the receptacle and the engaging member is mounted for pivoting movement between a first position in which the actuator locks the engaging member in the latched position, and a release position in which the actuator releases the engaging member for movement to the open position. The actuator is safely positioned behind the engaging member so as to prevent accidental or inadvertent release of the engaging member, but is readily accessible through the engaging member for actuation by a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2001Publication date: November 7, 2002Inventors: Amos Shamir, Stanislaw Czerkies

Patent number: 5384559Abstract: A combination plug and fuse holder with replacement fuse storage provides fuse protection. In addition, it provides a means whereby a replacement fuse of the same size and type may be conveniently stored within the plug, yet out of electrical contact, and is readily available when it becomes necessary to replace a blown fuse within the plug. The fuse plug is of molded fire-retardant plastic having three separate members that are hinged together to form an integral unit. The housing members include a base member, an overlying body member hinged to the base member, together forming a fuse-accommodating pocket, and an end member hinged to the base member and carrying one of the electrical prongs. The other electrical prong extends from the body member and the electrical cord is adapted to fit between the base and the body members. A cavity is provided within the base member parallel to the fuse-accommodating pocket in which the replacement fuse is housed.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1994Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Assignee: Paramount Die & Machine Products, Inc.Inventor: Amos Shamir

Patent number: 4418978Abstract: A combination plug and fuse holder provides fuse protection for appliances, extension cords, ornamental lighting and other electrical products wherein fuse protection is desirable. The fuse plug is of molded fire-retardant plastic having three separate members that are hinged together to form an integral unit. The housing members include a base member, an overlying body member hinged from the base member, together forming a fuse-accommodating pocket, and an end member hinged from the base member and carrying one of the electrical prongs. The other electrical prong extends from the body member and the electrical cord is adapted to fit between the base and body members. Removal of the fuse can be accomplished simply by unlocking the end member and pivoting it from the base member to permit withdrawal of the fuse.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1982Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: Paramount Die & Machine ProductsInventor: Amos Shamir
