  • Publication number: 20230351349
Abstract: A computer system including a processor, in communication with a database, programmed to identify a plurality of billers from the database, including biller information, and receive a payee file including payee information identifying a payee which issued a bill to a payor. The processor determines an approximate match score for each of the billers in a first set of billers of the plurality of billers by comparing payee information to biller information and identifies a candidate list of billers from the first set of billers having an approximate match score indicating a likelihood of matching the payee information. The processor adjusts the candidate list of billers by altering the match score of at least one candidate biller by comparing a payee account number of the payee information to an account mask associated with the candidate biller and generates an output file of candidate biller information from the adjusted candidate list.

  • Patent number: 9922311
Abstract: At a computing device, optionally located in communication with an intermediate node in an electronic bill payment system, access is obtained to a data structure including a plurality of valid customer account numbers for customers of a biller that utilizes or desires to utilize the electronic bill presentment and payment system. With the computing device, each character of each of said valid customer account numbers is replaced with a wild card in accordance with a normalization scheme, to obtain a plurality of normalized valid customer account numbers. At least one pattern of said wild cards in said plurality of normalized valid customer account numbers is designated as a recommended account mask.

  • Publication number: 20150081537
Abstract: A dropped payment file is obtained at a computing device of an operator of an electronic funds transfer bill payment system from a client of such system. The dropped payment file includes data associated with at least one unsuccessful attempt to match payment data to a corresponding biller. The data in the dropped payment file is cleaned to create an updated dropped payment file. Matching logic is applied to the updated dropped payment file to identify at least one recommended biller to which the payment data should likely have been routed to. The client is advised of the at least one recommended biller.
