  • Publication number: 20220363859
Abstract: The disclosure relates to thermally expandable microspheres comprising a polymeric shell surrounding a blowing agent-containing hollow core, the polymer shell comprising a carboxylate-functionalised cellulose having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least about 125° C. The disclosure also relates to a method for preparing such thermally expandable microspheres, comprising mixing an aqueous phase that optionally comprises an emulsifier with an organic phase that comprises an organic solvent, a blowing agent and a carboxylate-functionalised cellulose having a Tg of at about least 125° C., to form a microsphere dispersion.

  • Patent number: 10266603
Abstract: The invention includes method, pharmaceutical compositions and uses thereof for treating patients with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) using a Platelet Derived Growth Factor Receptor Alpha (PDGFRA) inhibitor. The PDGFRA inhibitor is preferably an antibody specific to PDGFRA and causes an increase in the sensitivity level of PTC cells to radioiodine treatment. Moreover, the antibody can be used in combination with other PDGFRA inhibitors such as tyrosine kinase inhibitors and RNA interference molecules.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 17, 2015
Date of Patent: April 23, 2019
Assignee: The Governors of the University of Alberta

  • Publication number: 20090155218
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, compositions, and kits for maintenance of the undifferentiated state and/or pluripotency in stem cells, including embryonic stem (ES) cells. It also relates to stem cells that have been maintained in an undifferentiated state. The present invention provides these aspects using culture medium enriched with a TGF? family member protein, an FGF family member protein, and/or nicotinamide, without using fibroblast feeder layers, conditioned media, or leukemia inhibitory factor.

  • Patent number: 4189862
Abstract: An action toy that includes a circular top which is fastened between two sets of strings, so that when the top is rotated manually, the strings become wound up, whereby when the string ends are then pulled, the strings unwind causing the top to spin, at high speed and then rewind the strings in opposite directions for reciprocal pull of the strings and additional top spinning; the top being made generally of two hollow, hemispherical transparent members secured to opposite sides of a circular disc that is perforated so that candy can pass therethrough into a chamber on either side.

  • Patent number: 4074459
Abstract: A toy that represents a pirouetting ballerina, and which includes a doll mounted along a line extending vertically through a center thereof, the line including a string attached to a rubber band that can be rotationally wound up, so that when the extending opposite ends of the line are grasped and manually pulled, the doll spins reciprocally in opposite directions.
