  • Patent number: 6629172
Abstract: The present invention is a system for assigning unique addresses to multiple devices attached to an I2C bus. When multiple devices share the same I2C address, the master device is unable to communicate with each device individually. Therefore, a circuit enable input is created to individually activate each device. Once a device is activated, the master device may communicate to the device a unique I2C bus address, after which the activated device only responds to the new address. Each device initially sharing the same address is activated individually until all devices have been assigned a unique address.

  • Patent number: 6614962
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to apparatus for installing optical fibres in duct systems or like tubular runways, and then preferably for installing optical fibres in duct systems arranged in dwelling rooms in apartment blocks. By using a subpressure that acts from a centrally located suction device connected to the duct system, it is possible to draw one or more optical fibres (19), possibly simultaneously, by suction through a duct (13) in the duct system and lead said fibre or fibres to a centrally arranged collecting point common to said fibres. Handling of the optical fibre and feeding of the fibre into a respective duct is facilitated by placing the suction device centrally in the duct system and by placing a drum (20) on which the optical fibre is coiled at the mouth (14) of the duct, therewith enabling the fibre to be installed by a single workman more quickly than would otherwise be the case.

  • Publication number: 20030072918
Abstract: A web of flexible material, such as paper and nonwoven material is embossed by printing the web in a selected pattern by bringing it into a first nip between an impression roll and a printing roll carrying a colorant in a selected pattern; subsequently embossing the web by bringing it into a second nip between a pattern roll and the impression roll, the pattern roll having a three dimensional pattern of alternating raised and recessed portions, the three dimensional pattern being interrupted by relatively smooth areas, so that the web will be embossed in selected areas while leaving other areas substantially unembossed; the pattern roll and printing roll being synchronized so that embossing occurs mainly in the areas of web that are not printed in the selected pattern. The printing and embossing steps may also be reversed so that the web is embossed before printing.

  • Patent number: 6063220
Abstract: In the manufacture of packaging containers, for example blown plastic bottles, a circular material blank is, in certain cases, fixedly welded to the end of a sleeve-shaped casing portion. It is advantageous from amongst other energy viewpoint if the welding can take place using ultrasound, but in this instance it has been proved that the central region to the circular blank absorbs ultrasonic energy to such an extent that it is deformed or breaks. A method of using ultrasound to fixedly weld a circular material blank without such drawbacks occurring is proposed according to the present invention in that the oscillations caused by the ultrasound are reduced by a mechanical stabilization of the central region of the circular blank, which is put into effect with the aid of a vacuum and a relief pattern provided in the central region of the circular blank.
