  • Patent number: 10077049
Abstract: A method is provided for adapting the starting gear of an automated manual transmission in a heavy vehicle, where a pre-selected starting gear is selected by a transmission control unit depending on vehicle parameters of the heavy vehicle, where the starting gear is lowered from the pre-selected starting gear depending on a movement behavior of a vehicle in front of the heavy vehicle. The pre-selected starting gear can be adapted to the traffic in front of the vehicle, which makes it possible to avoid unnecessary gear changes and which allows for a smooth starting cycle of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180244269
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling vehicle speed in a vehicle equipped with cruise control when the vehicle is travelling downhill. The method involves driving a vehicle downhill with the cruise control set to a first brake set speed value; detecting a current vehicle speed; applying a brake torque using at least one auxiliary brake to maintain the first brake set speed, which brake torque is dependent on a currently engaged gear; detecting a manual request for a downshift from a currently engaged gear to a lower gear, in order to decrease vehicle speed; and determining if a downshift is permissible at the current vehicle speed.

  • Publication number: 20180244247
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling vehicle speed in a vehicle equipped with brake cruise control when the vehicle is travelling downhill are provided. The method involves driving a vehicle downhill with the brake set speed set to a first brake set speed; detecting a current vehicle speed; automatically applying a brake torque using at least an auxiliary brake to maintain the first brake set speed; and detecting a manual application of a vehicle service brake, in order to decrease vehicle speed. If a control unit detects that the driver is applying the service brake, then the control unit is automatically arranged to set the brake set speed to a second brake set speed that is lower than the first brake set speed; and to apply a brake torque using at least the auxiliary brake if a detected current vehicle speed exceeds the second brake set speed.

  • Patent number: 9936918
Abstract: A method of providing a metal coating on a substrate (10), and electrically insulating sections/parts of the metal coated substrate from each other. A substrate is provided with an insulating material in the substrate, the insulating first material extending through the thickness of the substrate and protruding above one surface of the substrate. It forms an enclosed section/portion (14) of the substrate. A protective structure (15) is provided on the insulating material such that it covers the entire circumference thereof. The insulating material is selectively etched to create an under-etch (18) under the protective structure. Finally conductive material (19) is deposited to provide a metal coating over the substrate, whereby the under-etch will provide a disruption in the deposited metal coating, thereby electrically insulating the enclosed section from the surrounding substrate.
