    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing propellant powder charges intended for heavy barrel weapons, such as canons and howitzers, and with a high degree of filling and a high energy content, and also to propellant powder charges produced in accordance with this method. The charges according to the invention are distinguished by the fact that 70 to 95% of their weight consists of a more coarsely grained powder and 30 to 5% consists of a granular powder with a smaller grain size. These two powders have the same of different chemical composition, and one or more of them can be surface-inhibited.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for avoiding uneven ignition when initiating artillery propellant powder charges (1) which comprise a plurality of partial charges of the so-called modular type and which are initiated by means of laser initiation systems or conventional ignition cartridges. The invention also includes artillery propellant powder charge modules designed in accordance with this method. The invention is also based on the fact that each such charge module or modular charge has on the one hand been provided with an initiating charge (18, 19) at each end of the central ignition channel (11), where this initiating charge can consist for example of black powder, and, on the other hand, the middle part of the same ignition channel has been provided with a specially designed firing unit (14) consisting of a number of ring elements between which narrow ignition gaps (17) are maintained.

A special feature of this type is that, in an otherwise empty pyrophoric relay tube (10) arranged axially in the longitudinal direction of the charge, it has a firing charge which is made up of a plurality of successive powder rings (14), the different ring-shaped parts of this firing charge having distancing members (16) which are directed towards each other and give rise to narrow ignition gaps (18) between them.

    Abstract: An airbag device including a gas-emitting substance chamber having an opening. A gas-emitting substance is provided in the gas-emitting substance chamber including between about seventy-six to about eighty percent by weight of a high energy explosive and about twelve to about fifteen percent by weight of a combustible binder. An igniter provided within the gas-emitting substance chamber ignites the gas-emitting substance. A pressure reducing valve arranged in the opening of the gas-emitting substance chamber maintains a desired pressure in the gas-emitting substance chamber during burning of the gas-emitting substance. A gas container having an opening contains a gas for oxidizing gas produced by burning of the gas-emitting substance. A closure closes the opening in the gas container. A mixing chamber is joined to the gas-emitting substance chamber and the gas container in the vicinity of the opening of the gas-emitting substance chamber and in the vicinity of the opening of the gas container.
