  • Patent number: 9297225
Abstract: An apparatus for use during drilling of a wellbore. The apparatus includes a receiving device that receives cuttings from a separator and a sensor for providing information relating to weight of the cuttings received by the receiving device for determining the weight of the cuttings received. A method is provided for determining an amount of cuttings received in a fluid from a wellbore by separating the cuttings from the fluid, receiving the separated cuttings on a member, and determining weight of the cuttings received using a sensor associated with the receiving device.

  • Patent number: 9068407
Abstract: A drilling assembly for drilling a subterranean wellbore includes an expandable reamer and an expandable stabilizer. The expandable reamer and the expandable stabilizer each have a tubular body with a longitudinal axis and a drilling fluid flow path extending therethrough. A plurality of blades is carried by the reamer and a plurality of bearing pads is carried by the stabilizer. The blades and bearing pads are outwardly movable from a retracted position to an extended position with respect to the longitudinal axes of the reamer and stabilizer, respectively. The reamer and stabilizer each include an actuation device for moving the blades and bearing pads, respectively, from the retracted position to the extended position.

  • Patent number: 5325714
Abstract: A steerable motor system with integrated formation evaluation logging capacity is presented. The device comprises a housing, a formation resistivity logging tool, a surface signaling device, a density logging tool, a porosity logging tool and a downhole motor and drill. The formation resistivity logging tool is located below the downhole motor and is mounted within the housing wherethrough a drive shaft, extending from the downhole motor, is disposed. Power and signal cables are located within an outer shell of the housing and connect the surface signaling device with the resistivity logging tool. In an alternate embodiment, the resistivity logging tool is located between a motor stabilizer and the drill bit. The present invention allows for increased drill angle during wellbore drilling and formation evaluation.
