  • Patent number: 8253645
Abstract: An antenna system comprising at least two antenna radiating elements and respective reference ports the ports being defined by a symmetrical antenna scattering N×N matrix. The system further comprises a compensating network connected to the reference ports. The compensating network is arranged for counteracting coupling between the antenna radiating elements. The compensating network is defined by a symmetrical compensating scattering 2N×2N matrix comprising four N×N blocks, the two blocks on the main diagonal containing all zeros and the other two blocks of the other diagonal containing a unitary N×N matrix and its transpose. The product between the unitary matrix, the scattering N×N matrix and the transpose of the unitary matrix equals an N×N matrix which essentially is a diagonal matrix. The present invention also relates to a method for calculating a compensating scattering 2N×2N matrix for a compensating network for an antenna system.

  • Patent number: 8224271
Abstract: An electronic device (200,300) comprising an antenna arrangement with first and second antenna groups with first (122, 142) and a second (124, 144) radiation elements. The first and second radiation elements in each group have first and second respective polarizations and gain, and said groups also comprise a beam forming network (126, 146) connected to the radiation elements of the group and to an output selector (150). The beam forming network (126, 146) of each antenna group uses the radiation elements (122, 124; 142, 144) in the group to create a radiation pattern (127, 147) with a polarization which is a composite of the first and second polarizations of the elements in the group, so that a first (127) and a second (147) radiation pattern of composite polarization is created. The output selector (150) selects or combines signals received by the two antenna groups as its output.

  • Publication number: 20100328184
Abstract: An antenna arrangement comprising an input/output connection and a first and a second tuning network with different transfer functions. The arrangement additionally comprises an antenna and a switch for connecting the input/output connection of the arrangement to one of said tuning networks, with a second switch for connecting the antenna of the arrangement to the tuning network to which the input/output connection of the arrangement has been connected. The arrangement comprises a sensor for sensing a form factor of the arrangement or of an apparatus in which the arrangement is used, and said sensor can be used for influencing said first and second switches, so that a device which has been connected to the arrangement may be connected to the antenna via a tuning network optimal for the current form factor of the arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20100271273
Abstract: A movable part for an electronic device which comprises at least two parts that can be moved in relation to each other. The movable part comprises a display for the electronic device and a first conducting plane which is comprised in the display or located adjacent to the display. The first conducting plane comprises a waveguide. The waveguide may be a co-planar waveguide, i.e. a waveguide which comprises a central strip of conducting material surrounded by slots on both sides.

  • Publication number: 20100001918
Abstract: The present invention discloses a repeater antenna comprising a plurality of radiation elements arranged in a first electrically conducting layer or plane. The repeater antenna also comprises a ground plane spaced apart from the radiation elements by a layer of dielectric material, and the radiation elements are each given such an extension (L1, L2, L3) and such a distance (D12, D23) to neighboring radiation elements that an incident electromagnetic wave will reflect from the repeater antenna at an angle (?2) that by a predetermined amount will be greater or smaller than the incident angle (?2) of the electromagnetic wave. The repeater antenna is plane, and can be either curved or flat.

  • Publication number: 20090128393
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an antenna or antenna array and the antenna or antenna array itself with an operating frequency band, including antenna elements. The antenna or antenna array is integrated in a vehicle structure wherein a radar absorbing material structure, conforming to the shape of the vehicle structure and including at least one layer of radar absorbing material with an inner surface facing the antenna element and an outer surface being an outer surface of the vehicle structure, is mounted in front of the antenna elements. Each radar absorbing material-layer is defined by a thickness and frequency dependent radar absorbing material properties: relative permittivity relative permeability.
