  • Publication number: 20100039296
Abstract: Paper-based playback of media can be performed by electronically recording handwritten notes including pen strokes using a digital pen on a position-coded paper. A plurality of bounding areas is identified, e.g. by generating bounding areas around the pen strokes as they are developed. Each bounding box is provided with a time stamp which indexes a media file, which was recorded simultaneously with the handwritten notes. By placing the digital pen close to a handwritten note on the paper, the part of the media that was recorded when the specific note was written can be recalled. More specifically, the bounding box corresponding to the position of the digital pen is identified and the associated time stamp is used to find the media to recall. This paper-based playback of media can be performed in e.g. a stand-alone device or by a combination of a digital pen and a mobile phone.

  • Publication number: 20100020331
Abstract: An interferometer system for tracking a position of a movable object in a pattern generator is provided. The interferometer system includes an interferometer configured to generate an interference signal indicative of at least one instantaneous position of an object, and a control system. The control system generates raw position data based on the generated interference signal, selects a subset of position data from the raw position data, and extrapolates at least a third position of the object based on the selected subset of position data.

  • Publication number: 20090075340
Abstract: The present invention relates to agents and methods that are capable of augmenting NK-mediated killing of target cells by reducing inhibitory KIR signalling without reducing the binding of KIR to HLA-C. As described herein, transduction of negative signaling via KIR, upon binding of KIR to its HLA class I ligand, can involve a ligand-binding induced, conformational reorientation of the KIR molecules allowing interactions to form between adjacent KIRs in specific domains, leading to accelerated clustering. Methods and agents such as monoclonal antibodies for reducing KIR-mediated inhibition of NK cell cytotoxicity without reducing or blocking HLA-binding by, e.g., reducing or blocking dimerization of KIR, are provided.

  • Publication number: 20070153751
Abstract: An access node anchoring a connection to, e.g., a PDSN in a core network establishes a session with a mobile station and assigns the mobile station an identifier such as a UATI. The anchor node sends the UATI to the PDSN, such as in a GRE key where the data link is a GRE tunnel. If the anchor node fails and data addressed to the mobile station comes to the PDSN, it may initiate a page for the mobile using the UATI. The anchor node may additionally send the PDSN the session seed and optionally the mobile station's network location. A registration zone may be defined to include access nodes within a predetermined distance of the anchor node, and the mobile station forced to re-register when moving outside of the registration zone. In this case, the PDSN may initiate a page for the mobile station only within the registration zone.

  • Publication number: 20060268781
Abstract: A Handoff (HO) Function facilitates the handoff of a hybrid AT/MT from a packet data wireless network to a circuit switched wireless network. The HO Function translates a handoff indication from the packet data network to an emulated circuit switched handoff request for the circuit switched network. The HO Function also passes handoff radio parameters from the circuit switched network to the packet data network. The handoff parameters are transmitted to the hybrid AT/MT, allowing it to tune to the frequency band of the circuit switched network. Additionally, the HO Function initiates the IMS network signaling necessary to route voice signals from the other party of the existing call, through the IMS network, and to the hybrid AT/MT on the circuit switched network. The HO Function controls a Media Gateway that translates call media between the packet data networks and the circuit switched network formats and protocols.

  • Publication number: 20060154665
Abstract: The hybrid mobile terminal is engaged in an existing call through a serving one of a circuit switched or packet data wireless networks. The mobile terminal places a new call through the target one of the wireless networks, the new call having a predetermined called party identifier. In response to the called party identifier, the call is converted to a loop-back call directed to the mobile terminal through the serving wireless network, establishing a call path through the target wireless network. The mobile terminal accepts the loop-back call, and directs the existing call to connect to the call path through the target wireless network. The existing call through the original network is then dropped, effecting an inter-system handoff from the serving to the target wireless network.

  • Patent number: 6438108
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting acknowledgments from an acknowledgment queue in a receiving system to a receiving system in response to receipt of a data packet from the receiving system is disclosed. An acknowledgment compressor co-located with an acknowledgment queue of the receiving system compresses a plurality of acknowledgments within the acknowledgment queue into a single acknowledgment packet. The single acknowledgment packet is transmitted from the receiving system to the sending system over a packet data network wherein it is intercepted at some point by an acknowledgment decompressor prior to receipt by the sending system. The acknowledgment decompressor regenerates the plurality of acknowledgments from the single acknowledgment packet and transmits the decompressed plurality of acknowledgments to the sending system.

  • Patent number: 6178960
Abstract: A motor saw for cutting wood or stone includes a continuous wire loop (18) which carries uniformly-spaced cutting elements (25) and which is tensioned over a saw guide bar (17), from a drive wheel (30) mounted in the machine housing (15) to a loop-guiding sprocket wheel (20) at the outer end of the guide bar (17), said sprocket wheel functioning as a circular saw. As the cutting elements (25) pass over the sprocket wheel (20), they drop into recesses (28) between cog-like sprockets (27) thereon. The sprockets (27) support and guide the wire loop with the cutting elements (25) hanging freely in cutting positions in the recesses (28) between the sprockets. In the case of a duplicated wire loop, a cog claim (51) on the sprockets penetrates between parts (18′, 18″) of the loop so as to prevent the freely-hanging cutting elements (25) from twisting. These cutting elements may be irregularly shaped if desired.

  • Patent number: 6021773
Abstract: In a wire saw primarily intended for sawing stone with the aid of light portable equipment, a continuous, easily flexed wire loop or wire on which cutting elements are uniformly spaced includes elastomeric spacing elements between the cutting elements. With the intention of increasing the flexibility of the wire loop and its ability to endure bending as it runs around guide sprocket wheels of small diameter, the diameter of the wire or the wire loop is reduced. A narrow waist bore which centers against the wire enables the cutting elements to be threaded in a centerd way on the wire. The spacing elements are applied thinly on the wire between the cutting elements. The elastomeric material functions to resiliently center the cutting elements by being pressed against the center plane of the cutting elements from both sides into recesses provided in the end-walls of the cutting elements, theses recess being flared at a wide angle of about 90 degrees.

  • Patent number: 5999133
Abstract: An antenna for small mobile devices comprises an antenna rod retractable in an antenna cover, the rod having an extended position, when the device operates in an active mode, or a retracted position, when the device operates in a passive mode. The electrical length of the antenna is different in the respective modes. Further, the antenna rod comprises an upper section and a lower section, separated from each other by an intermediate electrically insulating portion, wherein the upper section forms an antenna in a passive mode and the two sections in the active mode.

  • Patent number: 5462127
Abstract: The present invention is for a holder for a device comprising axially vibrating and/or beating tools, e.g. a device for removal of hard layers by axing using an axially vibrating and beating chisel. The device is manually controlled and transfer of vibrations and beats from the chisel to the handles is eliminated or much reduced by shock absorbers which are arranged parallel to the chisel. The chisel and its power machine are mounted onto the holder by a shaft which is connected to the lower ends of the shock absorbers. The device also comprises a backward support so that in operation it does not need to be held in position but only directed.
