  • Publication number: 20080003223
Abstract: The present invention relates to nucleic acid sequences encoding novel Babesia canis associated proteins and to cDNA fragments, recombinant DNA molecules and live recombinant carriers comprising these sequences. Furthermore, the invention relates to host cells comprising such nucleic acid sequences, cDNA fragments, recombinant DNA molecules and live recombinant carriers. Also, the invention relates to proteins encoded by these nucleotide sequences, to vaccines for combating Babesia canis infections comprising these proteins or genetic material encoding these proteins and methods for the preparation of vaccines. Another embodiment of the invention relates to these Babesia canis associated proteins for use in vaccines and to the use of the Babesia canis associated proteins in the manufacture of vaccines.

  • Publication number: 20070041991
Abstract: The invention relates to Babesia proteins of a 28 kDa protein family and to immunogenic fragments of such proteins, to nucleic acids encoding such proteins or fragments, to cDNA fragments, recombinant DNA molecules, live recombinant carriers, or host cells comprising such nucleic acids, to vaccines, to methods for the preparation of such vaccines, to the use of such proteins or fragments for the prophylactic or therapeutic treatment of an infection or its clinical signs caused by an organism of the family Babesiidae, and to diagnostic tests for detection of nucleic acids, antibodies or antigens of an organism of the family Babesiidae.

  • Publication number: 20060051365
Abstract: The present invention provides an immunogenic composition comprising a fusion protein and a saponin adjuvant. The fusion protein comprises a heterologous hydrophobic peptide that is fused to the N-terminus and/or to the C-terminus of a core polypeptide. The core polypeptide comprises at least one protective epitope. The saponin adjuvant in this composition is present in a free form. Also provided are vaccines comprising the immunogenic composition and optionally an additional immunoactive component. Methods for the preparation of such vaccines, and use of the immunogenic composition for the manufacture of a vaccine are provided as well.

  • Patent number: 5290688
Abstract: Method for the culture of Babesia divergens, characterized in that the Babesia strain is maintained under culture in a culture medium free from serous protein but containing lipoproteins and red blood corpuscles, and a method for preparing exoantigens and a vaccine containing these antigens.
