  • Patent number: 6852958
Abstract: Container designed to contain a product having to be heated by applying microwaves, the container having a side wall (10) and an end wall (12) formed by a base or a lid and means (10A) for limiting the penetration of the microwaves through the side wall (10), compared with the penetration of the microwaves through a central region of the end wall (12). Advantageously, the container according to the invention further comprises means (12A) for concentrating the microwaves in a central region of the end wall (12), the said means being formed by an excess thickness of a dielectric material, the dielectric constant of which is at least equal to 1.5, preferably greater than 2.

  • Patent number: 5464968
Abstract: A process for controlling the microwave heating of a product to a temperature which is higher than or equal to a determined temperature for a period which is longer than or equal to a determined period, a marking support and a receptacle for product intended for such a control. Measurement is made of the resistivity of a thermally crosslinkable ink filled with conductive particles, with which the product or the receptacle containing the product has been previously marked and the resistivity of which is arranged to decrease in a predetermined manner in relation to the temperature and the period of microwave heating. The invention is applicable especially to the control of the sterilization of a pharmaceutical or agri-foodstuff product.

  • Patent number: 5278375
Abstract: A microwave applicator device for the treatment of sheet or lap products comprising a housing defining a parallelepipedal waveguide cavity with dimensions a.times.b.times.L in an orthogonal coordinate system Ox, Oy, Oz, the housing being aligned along Oz and provided with slots for passing the product to be treated into the cavity along a plane parallel to the Ox, Oz plane, and means a microwave generator for exciting the cavity in Transverse Electric Mode, in order to create an electric field (E) internal to the cavity along a direction substantially parallel to Ox. The housing is such that the dimension a of the cavity is greater than a value substantially equal to the dimension b of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4934141
Abstract: Device for microwave elimination of particles contained in the exhaust gases of diesel engines in which a microwave (.lambda.) source (6) and a conductor (5) of the electromagnetic field generated by the source is joined with a resonator (2 or 3) mounted on an element of the pipe (12) for the exhaust gases which contains an insert, characterized by the fact that the insert consists of a filter (13) whose upstream and downstream ends are offset toward the inside of the cavity defined by the resonator and delimit two chambers (14, 15) in which conductors (4) of the electromagnetic field come out, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4585699
Abstract: The method comprises the following steps: depositing the coating (20) to be treated on a first face (11) of the dielectric support (10); depositing a layer (30) of electrically conductive material on a second face (12) of the dielectric support (10) opposite to the first face and generally parallel thereto, the thickness of said layer (30) being of the same order as the penetration depth .delta. in the material thereof of the selected electromagnetic wave; and applying microwave energy to the assembly thus constituted in such a manner that the direction of vibration of the electric field is substantially parallel to the coating (20) to be treated and to the layer (30) of conductive material.

  • Patent number: 4259561
Abstract: The invention provides a microwave feeder or applicator, that is to say a resonant chamber for coupling to a source of microwaves, arranged for the microwave treatment of a sample of material, comprising two main conductive walls extending parallel to a common axial direction and each having two projections and a central part joining the two projections, the projections of the two walls facing one another in pairs whereas the central parts of the two walls likewise face one another and define a region in which there is a local increase in the distance between the two main walls; a first conductive end wall forming a short-circuit and extending in a plane forming a cross-section of the main walls; a second conductive end wall forming a second short-circuit extending in a plane forming a cross-section of the main walls, and a coupling means for supplying microwave energy to the feeder, the dimensions of the cavity formed by the main end walls being arranged so that the cavity resonates almost exclusively in the
