  • Patent number: 4865264
Abstract: A compact yarn distributor block mounted on the bottom of a yarn creel to direct yarn supplied from yarn packages on the creel to the point of use of a yarn processing machine, such as a texturing machine. The yarn outlet openings in the yarn distributor block are displaced vertically from one another so that the yarn from one outlet can be supplied without interference from yarn being supplied from another outlet.

Date of Patent: September 12, 1989
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Andre M. Goineau
  • Patent number: 4864701
Abstract: An apparatus and process to produce a spun-like synthetic yarn which employs a filament loop breaker which is periodically and automatically opened to break the vacuum pressure to allow lint collected therein to be released and collected.

  • Patent number: 4815500
Abstract: A method to produce a novel three-ply yarn which, when woven into a pile fabric, tends to eliminate finger marking on the surface of the fabric. The method includes the steps of drawing and relaxing two yarns prior to commingling with a third false twist textured yarn.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 16, 1987
Date of Patent: March 28, 1989
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Andre M. Goineau
  • Patent number: 4736500
Abstract: An air texturing system for partially oriented yarn in which a draw block of aluminum or other suitable material is employed to provide two stages of drawing for the yarn to be textured. The draw block has an inlet offset from the outlet to provide for one stage of drawing between the inlet and outlet of the draw block.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1987
Date of Patent: April 12, 1988
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
    Inventor: Andre M. Goineau
  • Patent number: 4610131
Abstract: A boucle yarn is produced by entangling a drawn core yarn and an air textured, drawn effect yarn. The air textured, drawn effect yarn provides a plurality of randomly spaced curls or loops around the core yarn to produce the boucle yarn appearance. A number of the random curls or loops are embedded in the core yarn during the entangling process.

    Filed: January 6, 1986
Date of Patent: September 9, 1986
    Assignee: Milliken Research Corporation
Inventors: Paul W. Eschenbach, Andre M. Goineau
  • Patent number: 4437301
Abstract: Method to produce an entangled yarn product by air entangling a drawn core yarn and a drawn effect yarn. The effect yarn draw ratio is higher than the core yarn draw ratio which results in a composite yarn in which the birefringence of the core yarn is greater than that of the effect yarn.

  • Patent number: 4313004
Abstract: A method for preparing a diaminoalkoxy compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein m and n are both numbers from 0 to about 25 and m+n equals at least 1, R.sub.1 is selected from H and a lower alkyl group having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms; and R.sub.2 is selected from H and an alkyl group containing from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; which comprises incrementally introducing a dicyanoglycol compound of the formula: ##STR2## wherein m, n, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the values indicated above into a reaction medium at a rate sufficient to minimize cleavage reactions, at a temperature of from about 90.degree. C. to about 160.degree. C. in the presence of hydrogen at a pressure of from about 800 psi to about 2200 psi; ammonia in an amount of from about 10 to about 40 weight percent based on the weight of dicyanoglycol compound; and a nickel catalyst in an amount sufficient to catalyze said reaction, whereby said dicyanoglycol compound is reduced to said diaminoalkoxy compound.
