  • Patent number: 9631470
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus are described for locating, installing, inventorying, actuating, and/or accessing down-hole equipment in a wellbore. This comprises tagging a casing by inserting permanent components of material compositions within sections along the length of a casing. Inserted components and/or portions of an original section function as unique readable active and/or passive markers. The piping system comprises at least one pipe having a plurality of markers placed in radial sections strategically arranged with independently identical or different material compositions or embedded in a length of the wellbore casing. The sections function as markers forming a readable pattern readable by the reader(s). The reader is one of or a combination of any of the group consisting of: a plug, a probe, a sensor, and/or a computer for reading markers. The reader travels in either a forward or backward direction.

  • Publication number: 20150377013
Abstract: A control system with probes for generating and utilizing at least one or more addressed datagrams that communicate information to and from devices along piping assemblies comprising; one or more transmitters, one or more receivers, and one or more controllers, wherein the transmitters transmit information via one or more addressed datagrams encoded within a working medium to one or more receivers among the piping assemblies, is described. Transmitters convert datagrams into signals that are transmitted within the working medium and the receivers receive signals from the transmitters and also convert signals from the working medium which is converted back into datagrams. The controllers receive and decode the datagrams so that the controllers selectively communicate and perform logical operations on piping assembly devices according to directions received from the addressed datagrams.

  • Publication number: 20150378367
Abstract: A control system for generating and utilizing at least one or more addressed datagrams that communicate information to and from devices along piping assemblies comprising; one or more transmitters, one or more receivers, and one or more controllers and/or transponders wherein the transmitters transmit information via one or more addressed datagrams encoded within a fluid medium to one or more receivers among the piping assemblies, is described. Transmitters or transponders convert datagrams into signals that are transmitted within the fluid medium and the receivers receive signals from the transmitters and also convert signals from the fluid medium which is converted back into datagrams. The controllers receive and decode the datagrams so that the controllers selectively communicate and perform logical operations on piping assembly devices according to directions received from the addressed datagrams.

  • Publication number: 20150288094
Abstract: A high pressure and temperature, hermetically sealed bulkhead connector with pin and socket contacts for use in logging tools is described. The bulkhead connector comprises (a) one or more contact(s) placed within one or more channels wherein the channels provide a clearance path between contact(s) and bulkhead body and travel at least a partial longitudinal distance between proximal and distal ends. The contact(s) reside in the channel(s) and include at least; an optional movement limiter section, one central elongated section, and one fixed section where the contact(s) is attached to the bulkhead body at the distal end. The body correctly positions respective ends of the contact so that the body secures contact(s) to be parallel to each other and the contact(s) have terminal ends for connection. This arrangement provides at least one pivotable, pliable, free floating contact extending away from the fixed distal end of the bulkhead body.

  • Publication number: 20150267478
Abstract: An adjustable bent drilling tool capable of changing in situ drilling direction to facilitate horizontal drilling. The drilling tool may be controlled from the surface and eliminates the need to bring the tool to the surface for reconfiguration. In one embodiment, the drilling tool utilizes a communications module to communicate with upstream sections of the tool. The communications module is connected to a programmable electronic control module which controls an electric motor. A hydraulic valve assembly follows the control module, which receives input signals and controls a pilot piston between two fixed points of a mid-assembly typically located adjacent to and downstream of the hydraulic valve assembly on the drill tool. A lower assembly is attached to the drill tool immediately following the mid-assembly, and provides both a safety release sub-assembly as well as a bendable sub-assembly which directs the adjustable drill tool to change drilling angle and direction.

  • Patent number: 4887464
Abstract: A system for the quantitative analysis of one or more evolving gases exiting a borehole includes a Venturi ejector for substantially capturing liberated gases in the bell nipple and return line, a rotating disk extractor for substantially extracting gases entrained and dissolved in drilling mud, and a gas analyzer system for analyzing and quantifying the captured and extracted gases. The Venturi ejector preferably is operatively coupled to the return line, and a pipe wiper may be arranged to partially cover the bell nipple. The ejector sucks liberated gases out of the return line and causes a negative pressure to occur at the bell nipple such that air is sucked into the bell nipple rather than exiting the same. The rotating disk extractor has air flowing countercurrent to the mud flow. As the disks rotate, they pick up a thin liquid film of mud which is exposed to the air stream.
