  • Patent number: 7843858
Abstract: A method is provided for reducing crosstalk problems in digital subscriber loop systems. The problems are associated with a second receiver on a second loop responding to a signal from a first transmitter on a first loop. The signal is actually destined for a first receiver and is coupled between the first transmitter and the second receiver as a crosstalk signal. The method includes the step of transmitting a masking signal from a second transmitter to the second receiver for masking said crosstalk signal.

  • Patent number: 7382448
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for aligning an optical instrument with respect to a celestial coordinate system, the optical instrument having a field of view and an optical instrument coordinate system, the celestial coordinate system having a plurality of objects each having celestial coordinates. The method includes the steps of receiving a plurality of captured optical instrument positions in the optical instrument coordinate system along with a plurality of associated capture times; calculating, for each associated capture time in the plurality of associated capture times, coordinates in the optical instrument coordinate system for the plurality of objects to create a plurality of calculated object positions for each associated capture time; and, determining, for each associated capture time, a match for each captured optical instrument position in the plurality of captured optical instrument positions with the plurality of calculated object positions to create a list of actual alignment objects.

  • Publication number: 20050211576
Abstract: An air bottle carrier for use primarily by fire fighters includes square top and bottom frames, the corners of which are interconnected by hinges so that the frames can be moved between collapsed and erect conditions; support bars in the bottom frame for supporting the hemispherical bottom ends of air bottles, and crossbars in the top frame defining sleeves for slidably receiving and supporting the sides of air bottles. Bolts and internally threaded knobs are used to lock the frames in the collapsed or erect condition.

  • Patent number: 6657963
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling data congestion in a frame relay/ATM internetworking system is presented. In one embodiment, received frame relay frames are monitored in an internetworking switch to detect an indication, of congestion. When an indication of congestion is detected, the egress traffic provided to the source of the congestion indication is reduced, which may lead to local congestion in the internetworking switch. When congestion within the internetworking switch has arisen and a resource management cell is received along an ATM ingress path, an ATM, backward resource management cell is generated having a set congestion indication bit that informs additional ATM nodes of the congestion. In another embodiment, ATM cells are received in an internetworking switch and monitored to detect an indication of congestion.

  • Patent number: 6370116
Abstract: A modification to the “leaky bucket” algorithm provides fair treatment of Frame Relay packets of varying length. The previously known leaky bucket scheme requires that there be sufficient credits in either the committed burst (Bc) bucket or excess burst (Be) bucket to accommodate the entire frame at an access point for the frame to be accepted. The “elastic leaky bucket” algorithm of the present invention permits acceptance of frames if there are any credits at all in the relevant buckets. This provides for fair treatment of long frames.
