  • Patent number: 6379689
Abstract: An article for controlled and substantially uniform release of a volatile active organic substance into the surrounding atmosphere includes a silicone elastomer matrix of desired shape in which are dispersed the volatile substance and an effective amount of an agent for compatibilizing the volatile substance and the silicone elastomer of the matrix. The compatibilizer is an organic solvent with a Hildebrandt solubility parameter from 8 (cal/cm3)½ to 14 (cal/cm3)½ and a vapor pressure from 0.0005 mm to 0.8 mm of mercury (0.06 Pa to 105 Pa) at 20° C.

  • Patent number: 5958317
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a controlled-release device is described. The method comprises taking a hollow tubular element which is permeable to the active substance to be released and injecting it with at least two plugs of hardenable material. These plugs form partitions which block the hollow tubular element and are spaced apart to form at least one discrete hollow chamber. The hardenable material is then hardened and an active substance is introduced into at least one of the discrete hollow chambers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 1997
Date of Patent: September 28, 1999
    Assignee: Dow Corning France S.A.
Inventors: Louis Michele Jacques Aguadisch, Andre Rudolf Louis Colas
