  • Patent number: 10705182
Abstract: A ranging system includes an input for receiving a wireless signal and a detector for determining an estimate of a time-of-arrival of the wireless signal at the ranging system. The detector includes a first module for processing the wireless signal according to a non-linear, monotonic transformation to generate a modified signal, a second module for compressing the modified signal according to a linear transformation, resulting in a compressed signal including a number of elements, each element corresponding to a different time segment of the modified signal, and a third module for applying a decision function for determining an output including a first element of the number of elements, corresponding to the time-of-arrival of the wireless signal at the ranging system, applying the decision function, including comparing the elements of the compressed signal to corresponding thresholds of a number of thresholds associated with the number of elements.

  • Patent number: 9413418
Abstract: In a UWB real time locating system, UWB readers (12) are synchronized by adjusting a clock of a UWB slave reader (12) until the UWB reader (12) receives each UWB pulse (34) of a sequence of UWB pulses (34) having a predetermined pulse period (Tp) and encoding a master UWB reader unique identifier at an expected time slot (35) within each predetermined pulse period (Tp), the expected time slot (35) being related to the distance between the UWB tag reader (12) and a master UWB reader (12).

  • Patent number: 9311798
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for determining the position of an object which can be a passive or an active tag (140). The system comprises a plurality of anchor nodes (111,112) and a plurality of non-regenerative relays (121,122,123) of known positions. In case of an active tag, a UWB pulse signal is emitted by the tag and received by the anchor nodes either directly or via a relay. In case of a passive tag, UWB pulse signals are sent by the anchors nodes and reflected back, either way being either a LOS path or a relayed path. A processing node (130) collects the signals received by the anchor nodes (111,112) to estimate the position of the tag.

  • Patent number: 5555832
Abstract: A method for manufacturing hosiery items, termed "top-to-top" method, and the related modified knitting and stitching machines. The method includes the following steps: knitting a first hosiery item starting from a top down to a toe; knitting at least one row of trim at the end of the toe; knitting a second hosiery item at the end of the row of trim starting from a second toe up to a second top; separating and stitching the first and second hosiery items initially joined by the trim row by means of a specifically modified stitching machine. The stitching machine includes two independent stitching units which are fed by a common conveyor which is provided with a cutter and with diverging traction means. Top-to-top knitting can be performed with appropriately modified mechanically-programmed machines or with electronically programmed machines.
