  • Publication number: 20210098094
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with the automated updating of a digital patient record with actual vital signs data values for the patient, thereby obviating the need for a healthcare professional attending to the patient to manually input such data values into the digital patient record. To this end, the present application provides several computer-implemented methods for capturing such vital signs data values in digital form, e.g. a photographic image or screen capture[BA1], and automatically extracting the vital signs data values captured in such a digital image therefrom, e.g. using OCR algorithms. Also provided are computer program products for implementing such methods and electronic devices configured to implement such methods.

  • Publication number: 20140313030
Abstract: There is provided a bed exit monitoring apparatus for monitoring a user and determining when the user has got out of a bed, the apparatus comprising a processor that is configured to receive measurements of the acceleration in three dimensions acting on a device that is attached to the user; and process the measurements to determine if the user has got out of bed.

  • Patent number: 8194944
Abstract: In a method of automatically displaying medical measurement data, a computer receives medical measurement data, automatically, in real time, converts the received measurement data into data for histograms, and outputs the converted data as picture signals. A readout (10) displays histogram columns (12) and a cumulative curve (14).

  • Patent number: 7572230
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the presentation of information concerning variations of the arterial filling with blood (perfusion) of organs of living beings on the user surface (10) of a display screen, in which method the data required for the presentation (perfusion index) is derived, using an algorithm, from measuring values of a non-invasive photometric measuring process for determining the arterial oxygen saturation of the blood. The invention is characterized in that a first perfusion index is defined as a reference value and the subsequent perfusion indices are determined as relative deviations with respect to the reference value, said relative deviations being presented in the form of analog, graphic elements (42, 44) on the user surface (10) as information concerning the 10 variations of the perfusion.

  • Patent number: 6178343
Abstract: A coincidence recognition unit receives a first signal indicative of a pulse rate derived from pulse oximetry and a second signal indicative of a heart rate. A coincidence detection unit generates a third signal indicative of the coincidence between the first signal and the second signal. The pulse rate of a patient (detected by pulse oximetry) can thus be compared with the heart rate of the patient (e.g. from EKG or ultrasound). An indicator is preferably generated when the pulse rate and the heart rate do not match e.g. within a pre-given limit. A warning signal might further be generated indicating that the oxygen saturation value as measured by the pulse oximetry is not sufficiently accurate and/or invalid. A pulse oximetry unit according to the invention comprises a pulse oximeter for generating the first signal, a heart rate determination unit for generating the second signal, and the coincidence recognition unit receiving the first and second signals.
