Abstract: A handheld measuring device for optical distance measurement includes a transmitting device, a receiving device, an evaluation device, and a homogenizing device. The transmitting device is configured to transmit periodically modulated optical measurement radiation toward a target object. The receiving device is configured to detect optical measurement radiation returning from the target object. The evaluation device is configured to receive and evaluate detection signals of the receiving device. The evaluation device comprises a plurality of accumulation devices configured to accumulate detection signals. The evaluation device conducts detection signals during a sampling time window from a plurality of sampling time windows temporally schematically changeably to an assigned accumulation device from the plurality of accumulation devices, such that the accumulation device accumulates the detection signals during the sampling time window.

  • Publication number: 20120261547
Abstract: A photon detector is disclosed that includes, in addition to an immobilisable photon-sensitive element, a photon transmission element. The photon detector is configured such that it can vary photon intensities impacting upon the photon-sensitive element and transmitted by the photon transmission element, for example, by modifying an absorption property or a defocussing property of the photon transmission element. Also, the immobile photon-sensitive element, which can be, for example a SPAD (Single Photon Avalanche Diode), always operates close to the optimal operating range and below an immobilisation range. A distancing device that includes this type of photo detector is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120236290
Abstract: A measuring apparatus for optically measuring a distance to a target object is described. The measuring apparatus has a transmitting device for emitting periodically modulated optical measuring radiation towards the target object, a receiving device for detecting optical measuring radiation which returns from the target object, and an evaluation device for receiving and evaluating detection signals from the receiving device. The measuring apparatus also has a calibration device for calibrating the measuring apparatus, wherein the calibration device is designed to calibrate the measuring apparatus on the basis of detection of uncorrelated radiation which does not correlate with the modulated measuring radiation emitted by the transmitting device. In this case, the uncorrelated radiation may be in the form of background radiation. Alternatively, uncorrelated measuring radiation can be emitted by the transmitting device and can be detected by the receiving device.

  • Patent number: 8063364
Abstract: A particle optical apparatus has a particle source for generating at least one beam of charged particles, and a magnet arrangement having two pole plates, which are arranged spaced apart from one another, such that the at least one beam of charged particles in operation passes through the pole plates, wherein trenches are provided in the pole plates, in which trenches coil wires are arranged. The trenches, when viewed in a cross section transverse to an extension direction of the trenches, have a smaller width in a region of a surface of the pole plates, than in a region arranged at a distance from the surface.

  • Patent number: 7795342
Abstract: The use is described of aqueous dispersions in combination with fluoropolymers for oil- and water-repellent finishing of fiber materials. These dispersions have a long shelf life and contain a composition which is preparable by reaction of polyfunctional isocyanates with a deficiency of comparatively long-chain monohydric alcohols, subsequent reaction with a deficiency of a ketone oxime and final reaction with polyhydric alcohols or amino alcohols.

  • Patent number: 7054803
Abstract: A system extracts translations from translated texts, such as sentence translations from translated versions of documents. A first and a second text are accessed and divided into a plurality of textual elements. From these textual elements, a sequence of pairs of text portions is formed, and a pair score is calculated for each pair, using weighted features. Then, an alignment score of the sequence is calculated using the pair scores, and the sequence is systematically varied to identify a sequence that optimizes the alignment score. The invention allows for fast, reliable and robust alignment of sentences within large translated documents. Further, it allows to exploit a broad variety of existing knowledge sources in a flexible way, without performance penalty. Further, a general implementation of dynamic programming search with online memory allocation and garbage collection allows for treating very long documents with limited memory footprint.

  • Patent number: 7031910
Abstract: Linguistic frequency data is encoded by identifying a plurality of sets of character strings in a source text, where each set comprises at least a first and a second character string. Frequency data is obtained for each set and stored at a memory position in a first memory array that is assigned to each first character string. A pointer pointing to a position in the first memory array that has been assigned to the corresponding first character string of the respective set and which has stored the frequency data of the respective set, is stored in a second memory array for each set comprising each character string that is a second character string. The encoded data is accessed by identifying regions in the memory arrays that are each assigned a search string and a pointer pointing to a position in the first memory array.

  • Patent number: 7013261
Abstract: A system provides accelerated morphological analysis and in particular a speed-up of morphological look-up via a caching mechanism. The system determines whether each incoming token in a token stream is unique or recurring. Unique tokens, which occur for the first time in the token stream, are marked with a unique numerical identification (ID). A pointer is added to recurring tokens, which already occurred in the token stream, and directed towards the unique numerical ID which was defined for the respective token when occurring for the first time. A morphological look-up is performed on the unique tokens. Subsequently, the tokens carrying the pointer are detected and replaced with the results of morphological look-up stored under the unique numerical ID of the respective unique token.
