  • Publication number: 20220408479
Abstract: A network node (560) transmits (110) broadcast information (201) which indicates a set (202) of control resource elements. The network node transmits (120) first control information in the set of control resource elements. The first control information schedules a first downlink message (203). The network node transmits (130) second control information in a subset (204) of the set of control resource elements for use by a bandwidth-restricted wireless device. The subset of the set of control resource elements has a smaller bandwidth than the set of control resource elements. The second control information schedules a second downlink message (205). Abstract: Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to receive wake-up signals (WUS) from a network node in a radio access network (RAN) coupled to a core network (CN). Such methods include determining a WUS group assigned to the UE and a WUS resource associated with the assigned WUS group, based on the following: a paging probability (PP) indication assigned to the UE; a plurality of discontinuous reception (DRX) parameters; a mapping between a plurality of PP indication values and a plurality of available WUS groups; and a first identifier associated with the UE. Such methods also include, during a time period of the WUS resource, monitoring for a group WUS associated with the assigned WUS group. Embodiments also include complementary methods for network nodes in the RAN and the CN, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods. FIG. 10 is selected for publication.

  • Publication number: 20220346016
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for paging are disclosed. According to an embodiment, a paging related entity obtains first information about a probability at which each of at least one terminal device is paged at a paging occasion (PO). The paging related entity obtains second information about a first power consumption and a second power consumption spent by each of the at least one terminal device for detecting a wake up signal (WUS) and a paging message respectively. The paging related entity determines, for multiple applicable WUS to PO mapping parameters, corresponding power consumptions spent by the at least one terminal device in a paging time window (PTW), based on the first and second information. The paging related entity determines, as a target WUS to PO mapping parameter to be applied to the at least one terminal device, one of the multiple applicable WUS to PO mapping parameters corresponding to a lowest power consumption in a PTW.

  • Patent number: 11477812
Abstract: A user equipment is configured for use in a wireless communication system. The user equipment in particular is configured to receive from a base station one or more configuration messages that indicate a pattern of downlink transmission gaps in time. The user equipment is further configured to receive from the base station a scheduled downlink transmission that comprises a downlink data block and one or more repetitions of the downlink data block. The scheduled downlink transmission is received with downlink transmission gaps therein according to the indicated pattern. Alternatively or additionally, the user equipment is configured to transmit a scheduled uplink transmission that comprises an uplink data block and one or more repetitions of the uplink data block. In this case, the scheduled uplink transmission is transmitted with uplink transmission gaps therein according to an uplink transmission gap pattern that specifies a pattern of uplink transmission gaps in time.

  • Publication number: 20220322264
Abstract: A wireless communication device (12) conditions its use of Preconfigured Uplink Resources (PUR), as preconfigured by a wireless communication network (16), on assessing the validity of a Timing Advance (TA) value used by the device (12) for controlling its uplink transmission timing The device (12) maintains a timer (37) and deems the TA value to be invalid upon expiration of the timer (37). In an example case, a device (12) operating in idle mode performs a PUR-based transmission in dependence on the timer (37) not being expired. A radio network node (10) of the network (16) maintains a like timer (57), to maintain an awareness of TA validity at the device (12) and, for example, sends an updated TA for the device (12) upon receiving a PUR-based transmission from the device (12). The device (12) and the node (10) may refresh their respective timers, in association with the TA update.

  • Publication number: 20220304070
Abstract: A base station transmits a resource grant indicating a plurality of options from which a wireless device is permitted to select for use in transmitting user data on an uplink during random access. Each respective option comprises a transport block size (TBS) and a number of repetitions. One of the TBSs is a maximum permitted TBS and the other TBSs are derived from the maximum permitted TBS using a predefined set of smaller TBS values. The number of repetitions of each option is determined as a function of the maximum permitted TBS and a corresponding number of repetitions. The wireless device receives the resource grant and transmits the user data on the uplink during random access to the base station according to at least one of the options. The base station receives the user data on the uplink during random access correspondingly.
