Publication number: 20240042368Abstract: A method of operating a cleaning process on a filter in a vehicle air intake includes passing air through the filter from an upstream side to a downstream side, and providing an exhaust duct having an inlet end adjacent the upstream side of the filter and an outlet end adjacent a cooling fan or other air-extraction device of the vehicle arranged to draw air through the exhaust duct from the inlet end to the outlet end. In a periodic cleaning subroutine, the rotational speed of the fan is increased from a first speed to a second speed, while a pulse of pressurized fluid is applied to a downstream side of the filter. The exhaust duct carries away material dislodged from the upstream side of the filter by the applied pulse, and the rotational speed of the fan is reduced to its original level.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2023Publication date: February 8, 2024Inventors: Stefan Hämmerle, Peter Gast, Andreas Kleinhenz, Thorsten Capelle, Andreas Reisch, Hans Leistle

Patent number: 11858556Abstract: A hood assembly for an agricultural vehicle such as a farm tractor has a first hood panel and a second hood panel pivotably attached to the first hood panel and movable from a first closed position to a second open position relative to the first hood panel. The first hood panel is an elongate body mounted above an engine of the vehicle and having a front end and a rear end joined by two side portions. The second hood panel wraps around the front end of the first hood panel and extends along the two sides thereof to respective pivotal attachments. The attachments have a common pivot axis which traverses the first hood panel in spaced-apart relation to the first hood panel front end. Opening the second hood panel provides maintenance access to a cooling package of the vehicle without opening or disassembling the remainder of the hood assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2021Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: AGCO International GmbHInventors: Markus Bräutigam, Andreas Kleinhenz, Franz Erhard, Thomas Maier, Simon Brack

Patent number: 8833501Abstract: A tractor has a chassis (10) which supports an engine (4) towards the front thereof. A deflecting shield (8) is positioned to the rear of the engine to deflect sideways hot air which has passed over the engine, and a tank (15) for the storage of urea based fluid for injection into an exhaust system of the engine is located behind the engine to the rear of the deflecting shield. The chassis to the rear of the engine may have an open-topped section (11a) between the engine (4) and a transmission housing (12), the tank being at least partially housed within the open-topped section of the chassis to shield the tank from the hot air which has passed over the engine and from the heating effects of the sun.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2010Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: AGCO CorporationInventors: Andreas Kleinhenz, Gerhard Mariner, Guido Nagele, Klaus-Jurgen Satzger, Hans Heinle, Robert Heisler

Patent number: 8739918Abstract: An exhaust system for an agricultural and/or industrial tractor (10) having an internal combustion engine (11) located in an engine compartment covered by an engine hood (11a). The system includes an exhaust gas treatment unit (16) located inside the engine compartment hood and having a main chamber (18) fed by an inlet pipe (15) which receives exhaust gases from the engine and an outlet pipe (17) which passes treated gases into a final portion (14a,14b) of the exhaust system. The inlet and outlet pipes (15,17) are non-aligned and extending alongside the main chamber (18) in opposite directions to reduce the overall length of the treatment unit. The treatment unit (16) may be installed above the engine (11) with the exhaust gases passing through the unit either generally normal or parallel to the direction of driving (D) of the tractor.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2009Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: AGCO GmbHInventors: Gerhard Mariner, Andreas Kleinhenz, Guido Nagele, Hans Heinle, Robert Heisler
