  • Publication number: 20060006738
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device and a method for the redundant voltage supply of safety-relevant systems, in particular in motor vehicles. Both a failure of a voltage supply to safety-relevant systems is detected and a switchover to another voltage supply is initiated in response to this, and it is also ensured that even if one or two drive devices for switching over the voltage fail, a fallback level is available which then switches over the voltage. This ensures, both if a voltage supply to safety-relevant systems fails and if drive devices fail, that voltage is nevertheless switched over and in this way the availability of safety-relevant systems is considerably improved.

  • Patent number: 6963794
Abstract: A system for automatic access or driving authorization for a motor vehicle includes a first device in the form of a control device having at least two states for engaging and disengaging vehicle door locks, an immobilizer, or the like. An associated second device is provided in the form of an electronic key, an ID transmitter, a chip card or the like. Both devices have means for transmitting or receiving signals, including a coded operating signal for authenticating the second device, so that a change in the state of the first device can be implemented when the second device is authorized. Before the second device is first activated, it is in a sleep state in which operation-independent function is not permitted and energy consumption is reduced. During a first operator-dependent authentication, the second device is changed over from the sleep state into a standby state in which an operation-independent function is at least partially made possible.

  • Patent number: 6923295
Abstract: The present invention relates to a friction brake, in particular a disc brake, for a motor vehicle with a friction element, e.g. a brake disc, coupled to the rotation of a vehicle wheel, forming a friction pairing of the friction brake with at least one associated brake lining, and with at least one clamping device for pressing at least one brake lining to the friction element. At least one controllable friction clutch is provided for using the rotational energy of the friction element in order to obtain the clamping force of the friction brake, the friction clutch being coupled on its input end to the rotation of the friction element and on its output end to the clamping device. Functional advantages are achieved because a friction pairing of the friction clutch is provided independently of the friction pairing of the friction brake. This eliminates undesired mutual influences. Altogether, such a friction brake obviates the need for an additional energy source for generating a brake clamping force.
