  • Patent number: 10644336
Abstract: A system and methods are provided for testing anode integrity during vehicle operation. In one example described, the system and methods allow for anode leak tests during vehicle operation based on a flow of hydrogen into a fuel cell, the flow of hydrogen into the fuel cell maintaining the vehicle power while the leak test is performed. The methods further allow for operational adjustments responsive to the leak test, which may include controlling the vehicle power to manage vehicle operations in the presence of a hydrogen leak in some instances.

Date of Patent: May 5, 2020
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Milos Milacic, Craig Winfield Peterson, Andreas R. Schamel
  • Publication number: 20180219237
Abstract: A fuel cell system including a fuel cell stack, a coolant loop and a thermal battery. The coolant loop is configured to flow a coolant liquid therethrough. The thermal battery includes a phase change material configured to absorb heat generated by the fuel cell stack or coolant liquid and to latently store the heat during a first mode of operation the fuel cell system.

  • Patent number: 10000126
Abstract: A power inverter includes a plurality of power modules that each have a frame defining a cavity, and a power stage disposed within the cavity. Each of the frames have a pair of engaging surfaces. The frames are arranged in a stack such that the engaging surfaces adjacent to each other abut. A plurality of seals are interleaved with the modules such that each of the seals is disposed between engaging surfaces of the frames abutting each other.

  • Patent number: 8958969
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for operating a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine in a coasting operating mode in which the motor vehicle rolls essentially in a propulsionless fashion and essentially without a perceptible engine drag torque on an essentially level road if there is no propulsion request or braking request from a driver of the motor vehicle. According to the invention, the coasting operating mode is not brought about by automatically opening the drivetrain but rather is simulated with the clutch closed in that so much air/fuel mixture is fed to the internal combustion engine that the engine drag torque is largely but not completely compensated.
