Patent number: 11981169Abstract: A self-inflating tire assembly includes an air tube mounted within a tire sidewall groove. The air tube is in contacting engagement with opposite angled groove surfaces surrounding the air tube. A segment of the air tube is flattened from an expanded diameter to a flat diameter by bending and compression of the groove in a rolling tire footprint to force air evacuated from the flattened segment along a tube air passageway. The sidewall groove extends into an annular, axially extending, sidewall surface such as an axially oriented surface of a tire chafer protrusion located in non-contacting relationship with the rim. The air tube is extruded from a rubber composition, the rubber composition comprising: a diene based rubber; from 0.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2019Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: THE GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER COMPANYInventors: Andreas Frantzen, Carolin Anna Welter, Anne Therese Peronnet-Paquin, Mingliang Du, Stephan Rodewald, Betul Buehler, Benjamin Isaiah Garn, Daniel Vojtko, Jungmee Kang, Dinesh Chandra

Patent number: 7378641Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for identifying an object O in an opening that can be closed by means of a mobile element (12). Light is fed into at least one fiber-optic light guide (33, 34) from a light source (1, 2), and variations in the received light are detected by means of at least one receiver (Ea, Eb), the fiber-optic light guide being arranged at least partially along the edge of the opening (11). A first fiber-optic light guide sends light transversally to the length thereof, said light being then received by a second fiber-optic light guide transversally to the length thereof. The second fiber-optic light guide (34) is connected to the receiver (Eb). The fiber-optic light guides are arranged on the edge of the opening (11) in such a way that a light field (F) at least partially bridging the opening is produced.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2005Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignees: Daimler Chrysler AG, Mechaless Systems GmbHInventors: Rolf Melcher, Frank Rottmann, Gerd Reime, Andreas Rodewald, Juergen Setzer, Michael Dietz, Peter Langer

Publication number: 20060151231Abstract: A motor vehicle contains a device (1) for controlling the shifting movement of a closure element by means of a shifting drive (5) fixed on the closure element. A transmission element (11) is mounted on a support console (7), which is connected fixedly to the closure element, which transmission element is movable relative to the support console (7), is mounted movably by a bearing region (13, 15) on a body region and is coupled by a coupling region (18), which faces away from the bearing region (13, 15), to the shifting drive (5) in order to transmit mechanical forces.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 16, 2003Publication date: July 13, 2006Inventors: Thomas Bucksch, Hermann Gaus, Peter Griesbach, Uwe Gruner, Christoph Jung, Rainer Leucht, Markus Riedel, Andreas Rodewald, Jurgen Zahn

Patent number: 6729683Abstract: In a method and a device for operation of a cover of a tilt-and-slide sunroof of a vehicle, the cover is arranged in a first relative position in relation to a roof panel surrounding the cover when the vehicle is stationary. The cover is moved from the first relative position into a second relative position by a vacuum force caused by an air stream when the vehicle is in motion. A physical variable correlating with the vacuum force is registered, and adjustment of the position of the cover by the cover drive as a function of the variable registered, counter to the direction of the vacuum force from the second relative position into a third relative position essentially coinciding with the first relative position, is performed. In its closed position, therefore, the cover always lies in the same relative position to the roof panel surrounding it, regardless of the vehicle speed.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Steffen Kreiner, Andreas Rodewald

Patent number: 6688683Abstract: A method for the operation of the cover of a slide-and-tilt sunroof for closing a roof opening of a vehicle from an open position, at least partially exposing the roof opening is provided. To close it, the cover is slid into the area of the roof opening and moved towards an opening edge of the roof opening, and, after commencement of the movement towards the opening edge of the roof opening, the movement of the cover is driven in such a way that the cover reaches the closed position in the same closing direction as when closing from its elevated position.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2002Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Steffen Kreiner, Andreas Rodewald

Patent number: 6674370Abstract: A display apparatus on the vehicle ceiling, in front of a partition wall which blocks the view of the rear window from the internal rear-view mirror, in order to display information, in particular about an area to the rear of the vehicle which is monitored by a monitoring device. When driving rearwards, the internal mirror is deflected, for example being pivoted automatically upwards from the position of the direction of travel selection lever, so that the driver can read the display, which is otherwise located outside the mirror field of view, via the rear-view mirror.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2001Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Andreas Rodewald, Harald Ruoff, Kai Wagner

Patent number: 5670939Abstract: The invention provides a method for evaluating the self-diagnostic system of a controller in a motor vehicle having a control panel with a push-button switch with automatic return, and additional input elements and having a signalling element which is suitable for emitting a flashing code. In order to emit a structured flashing code of fault numbers, the range of possible faults which can be diagnosed is divided into fault classes, the faults within a fault class being assigned fault numbers which can be emitted, separated on the basis of fault classes, by flashing code. A specific fault class is selected by the operator by setting the input elements to a specific position combination which is assigned to the fault class, and operation of the push-button switch (for example, the recirculation push-button in the case of a heating controller).Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1995Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Mercedes-Benz AGInventors: Andreas Rodewald, Wolfgang Straub
