  • Patent number: 5807921
Abstract: This invention relates to an aqueous silicone emulsion which forms a silicone elastomer upon the removal of water having improved adhesions to substrates. The silicone emulsion comprises the product form by mixing a diorganosiloxane polymer, water, surfactant, optionally a crosslinker, a tin condensation catalyst, optionally an acid and an effective amount of an aminofunctional siloxane which is formed by reacting an aminofunctional silane and a hydroxy-endblocked organosiloxane.

  • Patent number: 5777026
Abstract: An aqueous silicone emulsion which upon the evaporation of the water forms a surface modified elastomeric silicone material providing improved coverage and adhesion of paint and reduced staining and coefficients of friction, each relative to other silicone elastomers from aqueous emulsions. The silicone emulsion comprises (A) water; (B) a plurality of particles dispersed in the water comprising a crosslinked product of a diorganosiloxane polymer; (C) a surfactant; and (D) an amount of an oxygen curing compound or a salt thereof effective for the surface modification. If a surface active salt of an oxygen curing compound is used, it may not be required to add additional surfactant in order to form the silicone emulsion.

  • Patent number: 5744199
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of sealing openings in structural components of a building to reduce the amount of smoke which may pass through the opening in the event of a fire. The method comprises filling an opening in a structural component of a building with a support material; applying a coating of a silicone composition over the filled opening and allowing the silicone composition to cure into a continuous elastomeric film having certain properties. These silicone compositions exhibit pseudo plastic rheology which facilitates their application by spraying.

  • Patent number: 5733960
Abstract: The longevity of a surface driving oil layer on a room temperature vulcanizable silicone sealant is increased by adding zinc oxide to a non-acidic composition and exposing the composition to atmospheric moisture which forms the surface drying oil layer on an air exposed surface.

  • Patent number: 4327286
Abstract: Method and apparatus for measuring conditions affecting susceptibility of a surface to ice formation, as for an aircraft. Detection surfaces are provided with cooling and heating elements. At least a portion of a detection surface is cooled below the ambient to cause ice to form. The temperature of ice formation and the time required for ice to build up provide measures of the risk of icing.
