Abstract: A method of controlling a modular camera using an external device, the method comprising receiving a command to capture a digital video and/or a digital image from the external device via a wireless communication, capturing the digital video and/or the digital image according to the command from the external device, storing the digital video and/or the digital image in a memory, receiving a command to transfer the digital video and/or the digital image to the external device via the wireless communication, and transferring the digital video and/or the digital image to the external device via the wireless communication.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to provide video data structures that include one or more tracks that comprise different types of metadata. The metadata, for example, may include data representing various environmental conditions such as location, positioning, motion, speed, acceleration, etc. The metadata, for example, may also include data representing various video or audio tags such as people tags, audio tags, motion tags, etc. Some or all of the metadata, for example, may be recorded in conjunction with a specific video frame of a video clip. Some or all of the metadata, for example, may be recorded in a continuous fashion and/or may be recorded in conjunction with one or more of a plurality of specific video frames.

Abstract: A method of integrating a device with a storage network may include generating metadata associated with image files generated by a camera of a device. The method may further include automatically transferring to a storage network the image files and the metadata based a status of the device. The status of the device may include on one or more of power consumption associated with transferring the image files and metadata, battery status of a battery of the device, available storage space on the device, available connectivity paths with the storage network, and a power supply mode of the device.

Abstract: A camera system is disclosed according to some embodiments described herein that may include a motion sensor 135, an image sensor, a user interface, a memory, and a processor communicatively coupled with at least the motion sensor 135 and the user interface. The processor may be configured to enter a hibernate state; receive motion data from the motion sensor 135; determine whether the motion data indicates motion of the camera system; in the event motion is determined from the motion data, entering a sleep state; receive a user input from the user interface while in the sleep state; and entering an active state such that an image sensor of the camera system is powered on and is actively sampling images.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to rotate an image recorded by an image sensor to compensate for angular rotation or tilt of the image sensor. For example, a camera can include an image sensor having a plurality of pixels arranged in an array, an accelerometer, a memory, and a processing unit. The processing unit can be configured to read a first plurality of pixels corresponding to an imaging area of the image sensor. The processing unit can also be configured to receive an acceleration value from the accelerometer, and determine an tilt angle value from the acceleration value that represents at least in part the tilt of the image sensor relative to the Earth's gravitational field or the horizon. The processing unit may also be configured to rotate at least a subset of the first plurality of image pixels of the image sensor based on the tilt angle value.
