    Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-rolling mill for cooling a leader or band (4) of a metal strand in a working roll (6, 7), in which a coolant is sprayed on the leader or the band (4), is characterized in that the leader or band (4) is shielded from contact by the coolant in the area of the band edges. Shielding devices (14, 15) are used for said purpose. A shielding device (20) can also be disposed in the area of a loop lifter, or in a cooler device between the pretreater and the final line.
