  • Publication number: 20230248428
Abstract: A method and system includes, using a probe, applying irreversible electroporation (IRE) pulses to tissue over a time period to form a lesion in the tissue. A contact force applied to the tissue by the probe is measured over the time period. An IRE index is calculated based on the measured contact force and on a power level of the IRE pulses. Whether a value of the calculated estimated IRE index values has reached the prespecified target IRE index value is determined. Application of the IRE pulses to the tissue is displayed as a graphic and/or alphanumeric data while the estimated IRE index values are being calculated.

  • Patent number: 11717222
Abstract: A method of mapping includes receiving inputs measured by a probe at respective locations inside a body cavity of a subject. At each of the respective locations, a respective contact quality between the probe and a tissue in the body cavity is measured. The inputs for which the respective contact quality is outside a defined range are rejected, and a map of the body cavity is created using the inputs that are not rejected.

  • Patent number: 11712172
Abstract: A method, including receiving, from electrodes positioned within a heart, first signals from at least three of the electrodes indicating electrical activity in tissue with which the at least three of the electrodes engage, and second signals indicating locations of the at least three electrodes. The second signals are processed to compute the locations of the at least three electrodes and to determine a geometric center of the locations. Based on the signals, an electroanatomical map is generated for an area of the tissue including the geometric center, and an arrhythmia focus is determined in the map. A circle is presented, and within the circle, a region of the map is presented including the geometric center and the focus so that the geometric center on the map aligns with a center of the circle, the region within the circle indicating a spatial relationship between the geometric center and the focus.

  • Publication number: 20230221379
Abstract: A safety circuit, in the form of a switch box, for coupling with a catheter, detects DC leakage or emission from an amplifier circuit of the catheter, and switches a switch to immediately terminates (cuts-off) power to the amplifier circuit. This immediate power termination instantaneously stops DC leakage, which if left unchecked or otherwise undetected, may reach the heart, and disrupt its electrical activity and cause other damage.

  • Publication number: 20230210595
Abstract: Apparatus, consisting of a probe configured to be inserted into contact with a myocardium, and an electrode attached to the probe. A temperature sensor, incorporated in the probe, is configured to output a temperature signal. A pump irrigates the myocardium, via the probe, with an irrigation fluid at a controllable rate, and a radiofrequency (RF) signal generator applies RF power via the electrode to the myocardium, so as to ablate the myocardium. The apparatus also has processing circuitry that measures a temperature of the probe, based on the temperature signal, while the RF power is applied and, when the measured temperature exceeds a preset target temperature, iteratively reduces the RF power applied by the signal generator and concurrently iteratively varies a rate of irrigation of the irrigation fluid provided by the pump, until the measured temperature is reduced to the preset target temperature.

  • Publication number: 20230211165
Abstract: Switching systems are positioned along a bidirectional signal carrying line, typically between an electrode in a catheter at the heart of a patient, and an external console. The switching system provides for switching the bidirectional signal carrying line between: a main line, which carries acquired electrocardiac signals from the electrode of the catheter at the heart of the patent to the external console, via a switch unit; and, a bypass line, which carries pacing signals, directly from the external console to the electrode of the catheter. The bypass line provides an uninterrupted electrical connection between the electrode and the external console, thus avoiding the switch unit.

  • Publication number: 20230190370
Abstract: Methods and systems provide a body surface electrode, such as a patch, and, for example, a backpatch, which automatically detects detachment from the skin and/or proximity thereto, within a predetermined limit, and hence, the electrode coming out of contact with and/or proximity to the skin. Once the detachment is detected, the disclosed system instantaneously terminates pulse delivery to a pulse delivery electrode from an IRE generator, which generates the delivered pulses. By instantaneously terminating pulse delivery, damage to body tissues from overheating caused by pulses is minimized or eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20230190371
Abstract: The present disclosed subject matter provides a return electrode, such as a body surface electrode, which includes an accelerometer, for detecting movement of the body at and proximate to the location of the return electrode. The body movement results from pulses from an Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) pulse generator which are delivered to the return electrode, by a pulse delivery electrode. The data associated with the body movement at each location on the body of the return electrode, is used to determine suitable, and in some cases optimal, locations for return electrodes for IRE procedures.
