Patent number: 11933126Abstract: A ball dropping tool includes an outer and inner body, side bore, ball and an actuator. The outer body has an axial bore extending between a first and second end of the outer body and forming a flow path. The inner body forms a bypass passage extending between a first and second end of the inner body. The side bore is defined by the inner body and is disposed at an angle relative to the axial bore of the outer body. The bypass passage is disposed in a portion of the flow path and is in communication with the side bore. The ball is disposed within the side bore. The actuator, disposed within the outer body, is movable between a retaining position wherein the ball is retained within the side bore and a release position wherein the ball is released from the side bore and into the bypass passage.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: James Edward Atkins, James Andrew Blair Henderson

Publication number: 20240081941Abstract: Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive, non-radioactive, and low cost technology for diagnosis and identification of implantable medical devices in real time. Developing new ultrasound activated coatings is important to broaden the utility of in vivo marking by ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound responsive macro-phase segregated micro-composite thin films were developed to be coated on medical devices composed of multiple materials and with multiple shapes and varying surface area. The macro-phase segregated films having silica micro-shells in polycyanoacrylate produces strong color Doppler signals with the use of a standard clinical ultrasound transducer. Electron microscopy showed a macro-phase separation during slow curing of the cyanoacrylate adhesive, as air-filled silica micro-shells were driven to the surface of the film. The air sealed in the hollow space of the silica shells acted as an ultrasound contrast agent and echo decorrelation of air exposed to ultrasound waves produces color Doppler signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Jian Yang, Alexander Liberman, James Wang, Christopher Barback, Natalie Mendez, Erin Ward, Sarah Blair, Andrew C. Publication number: 20230269309Abstract: A method is provided to detect a lost packet in an event-based communication system which uses a communication protocol without error correction or recovery. The method includes maintaining a plurality of counters for tracking an overall count of data packets transmitted, and a count of data packets transmitted for each event-type; and transmitting a sequence of data packets to at least one remote device. Each data packet includes information of an event-type from the plurality of different event-types and count information associated with the counters. The method further involves receiving a message from the at least one remote device that at least one data packet from the sequence of transmitted data packets is lost based on the count information from at least one transmitted data packet; and taking at least one action in response to the message.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2022Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Schneider Electric USA, Inc.Inventor: Richard Andrew Blair
