  • Publication number: 20180068478
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining a sequence of image elements. For each image element in the sequence, a position in an array of contiguous image elements is determined. The position may be based on several factors, including at least: a size of the image element (large or small), an order of the image element in the sequence, and dimensions of the display array. The array of image elements may be rendered for display to the user such that the layout of the image elements is contiguous. If the user provides input re-sizing an image element or re-ordering the sequence of image elements, the array may be re-rendered.

  • Publication number: 20180005188
Abstract: Techniques to share images in a social networking system. In an embodiment, an image is received from a first user, the image is associated with a first archive of the first user within a social networking system, and the image is associated with a second archive of a second user within the social networking system without the social networking system receiving a request from the second user to download the image. The image may be received from a mobile device. The image may be captured by a camera of a mobile device. The image may be automatically uploaded from a mobile device. A request may be received from the second user to include the image in the second archive associated with the second user. Associating the image with the second archive of the second user may comprise including a link to the image in the second archive.

  • Publication number: 20170337637
Abstract: A social networking system provides a content feed to a client device associated with the user of a social networking system, the content feed including a plurality of content items. The social networking system identifies one or more missed content items, of the plurality of content items, that were part of the content feed and were not displayed by the client device. The social networking system generates a subsequent content feed that includes one or more content items that have not been previously provided to the client device and a missed feed unit that is associated with the one or more missed content items. In one embodiment, the missed feed unit, when selected, redirects the user to a new page that presents a different content feed including the identified missed content items. The social networking system provides the subsequent content feed to the client device for presentation to the user.

  • Patent number: 9786080
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a method for processing images. A structure provides a light sources configured to illuminate a target area. Illumination is controlled in a sequence over a first time period. At a given point in time, light sources are powered to enable illumination of the target area. An image of a target object is captured from a single reference location. The captured image is evaluated including processing the evaluated images on a pixel by pixel basis to produce a single composite image having respective pixel values derived from the evaluated captured images. The target object is 3D scanned to determine height information for a surface of a target on the target area. The height information is used to flatten respective pixels of the composite image. The composite image is provided after the flattening of the respective pixels.

  • Publication number: 20170187833
Abstract: In particular embodiments, a computing system may receive a request for a media item from a user. The system may access the media item and metadata associated with the media item. The metadata may identify one or more concepts depicted in the media item and a time associated with the media item. The system may obtain information associated with the one or more concepts from a social graph. The system may determine a social context associated with the media item using the metadata and the information from the social graph. A relevance of the social context to the user may be determined. The computing system may then select one or more media items associated with the social context and provide them to the user for display.

  • Publication number: 20140193916
Abstract: By this invention, for the first time, a method for high-efficiency genetic transformation of the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium pasteurianum is provided. Clostridium pasteurianum is a bacterium of substantial industrial importance, due to its selectivity and high productivity of the biofuel and biochemical n-butanol, and its ability to grow on a wide variety of inexpensive substrates. Notable among the substrates that it can utilize as a sole source of carbon and energy is glycerine, which is produced in increasing quantities globally as a by-product of biodiesel processing. The industrial exploitation of Clostridium pasteurianum has previously been impeded by the lack of genetic engineering tools for this bacterium. This invention provides such tools for the first time. Included in the invention is a means for protecting newly introduced DNA from degradation by a restriction enzyme within C. pasteurianum. Then, a detailed protocol is given, which enables high-efficiency transformation of C.
