  • Patent number: 10193619
Abstract: A method of compensating for crosstalk in a mode division multiplexing passive optical network using a technique of transmitter-side crosstalk pre-compensation, performed at the Central Office, in which a downlink reference signal such as a training sequence or pilot signal is retrieved at the transmitter without being influenced by crosstalk effects on its uplink transmission. An uplink reference signal is transmitted in a quasi-single mode transmission along the optical fiber, and a plurality of optical signals input to transmission multiplexer are adapted based on the uplink reference signal to pre-compensate for crosstalk.

  • Publication number: 20180234185
Abstract: A mode division multiplexing passive optical network (PON) in which channel estimation/inversion is performed in the optical domain. The PON comprises a plurality of input channels; a multiplexer having a plurality of input ports connected to a respective one of the input channels; an optical fibre having an uplink end connected to an output port of the multiplexer, whereby the multiplexer outputs a mode multiplexed signal corresponding to the optical signals from the plurality of input channels. The PON includes an optical equalizer arranged to transfer power between optical signals having different modes to compensate for crosstalk between the different modes. In this system, compensation for crosstalk occurs in the optical domain, e.g. by using the optical equalizer to adapt the optical signals where necessary.

  • Publication number: 20180208011
Abstract: A vehicle suspension control system is disclosed for use in load-carrying vehicles. The system controls a response of a suspension cylinder configured to support a main body of a vehicle in relation to a ground-contacting portion of the vehicle. A main accumulator is configured to contain a main compressible gas volume and is fluidly connected with the suspension cylinder. An auxiliary accumulator is configured to contain an auxiliary compressible gas volume. A valve is configured to selectively fluidly connect the auxiliary accumulator to the suspension cylinder. When the valve is open, compressing the suspension cylinder compresses both the main compressible gas volume and the auxiliary compressible gas volume. When the valve is closed, the auxiliary accumulator is fluidly isolated from the suspension cylinder. A processor is configured to automatically open or close the valve using a solenoid actuator based on one or more operating parameters of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180148783
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for identifying a subject having or at risk of having a metabolic disease, such as diabetes or obesity. The invention is based on an approach to identify candidate genes involved in metabolic diseases, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) through epigenetic mechanisms. The method includes identifying in the subject genetic markers correlating differentially methylated regions (DMRs) in the genome with genetic risk loci for the subject and comparing methylation patterns of the markers with a control sample from a subject not having the disease. In another embodiment, the invention also provides a method of treating a subject having or at risk of having a metabolic disease. In another embodiment, the invention provides a method of providing a prognostic evaluation of a subject having or at risk of having a metabolic disease.
