  • Publication number: 20180373263
Abstract: A collision-avoidance system for use with an autonomous-capable vehicle can continuously receive image frames captured of the roadway to determine drivable space in a forward direction of the vehicle. The system can determine, for each image frame, whether individual regions of the image frame depict drivable space. The system can do so using machine-learned image recognition algorithms such as convolutional neural networks generated using extensive training data. Using such techniques, the system can label regions of the image frames as corresponding to drivable space or non-drivable space. By analyzing the labeled image frames, the system can determine whether the vehicle is likely to impact a region of non-drivable space. And, in response to such a determination, the system can generate control signals that override other control systems or human operator input to control the brakes, the steering, or other sub-systems of the vehicle to avoid the collision.

  • Mat
    Publication number: 20180363251
Abstract: A movable mat is formed from a plurality of elongate beams arranged in side-by-side relationship. The mat features a recessed area formed from a pair of adjacent notched beams. An elongate connector passes through both of the adjacent notched beams at the recessed area. A portion of the connector within the notch is surrounded by a rigid sleeve. At least one pocket is formed in an upper surface of one of the beams. A rotatable coupler is situated within the pocket. The mat may be moved by attaching lifting equipment to the connector at one of the recesses or to the coupler. To form a flooring system, a plurality of mats may be arranged adjacent each other on a surface of the ground.

  • Publication number: 20180337549
Abstract: A wireless power transmitting device transmits wireless power signals to a wireless power receiving device using an output circuit that includes a wireless power transmitting coil. Measurement circuitry is coupled to the output circuit to help determine whether the wireless power receiving device is present and ready to accept transmission of wireless power. Oscillator circuitry for supplying signals to the output circuitry while making measurements with the measurement circuitry is coupled to the output circuit using an impedance injection network. The impedance injection network includes an inductor and a resistor coupled in series. Control circuitry opens a transistor in the output circuit when making measurements with the measurement circuitry and closes the transistor when transmitting the wireless power signals.

  • Publication number: 20180337557
Abstract: A wireless power transmitting device transmits wireless power signals to a wireless power receiving device using output circuitry that includes an array of wireless power transmitting coils that form a wireless charging surface. During wireless power transmission operations, wireless power signals are transmitted from the array of coils to a wireless power receiving device on the charging surface. Inductance measurement circuitry such as impulse response measurement circuitry and other measurement circuitry is coupled to the output circuitry. Control circuitry in the wireless power transmitting device analyzes signals from the measurement circuitry to produce two-dimensional signal profiles across the wireless charging surface and to compare patterns in these signal profiles to predetermined signal patterns associated with the presence of known power receiving equipment on the wireless charging surface. Based on the analysis, charging parameters may be adjusted or other actions taken.

  • Publication number: 20170224252
Abstract: A system and related devices for continuous and real-time monitoring and detection of head impact and corresponding trauma. The system may include a passive sensor mounted to a subject's tooth using dental hardware or adhesive so as to harness the firm coupling between the subject's tooth and cranium. With such firm coupling established, the impact data measured by the tooth-mounted sensor can be manipulated, through the use of a transfer function, by external processors to determine and communicate the impact experienced by the subject's head. The system is configured for use with an external power source whereby the passive tooth-mounted sensor is activated by means of a wireless transfer circuit such as an inductive power transfer circuit or an ultrasound power transfer circuit. The wireless activation of the powerless interior sensor system provides compatibility with multiple external power configurations, thereby enabling efficacious and continuous monitoring of the subject.

  • Publication number: 20150248525
Abstract: The current document is directed to methods and systems for organizing, storing, searching, aggregating, and distributing large quantities of biological information obtained for individual patients. In one described implementation, the knowledge and information is stored, in data-storage facilities within cloud-computing-like systems, as clinical actions, biological elements, and variants that are logically linked together to form network-like data structures. Individual patient data and clinical-knowledge databases, including the network-like clinical-knowledge data structures, are hosted in cloud-computing-like data centers along with a variety of services that receive and process queries from users, medical-service providers, and electronic-health-record-based applications and that return requested information to the requesting entities.

  • Patent number: 8753041
Abstract: The invention provides an injection, sealing, valving and passageway system for use with hollow rock bolts and hollow injection bars used in mining, civil engineering, tunneling and construction including use with hollow self drilling rock bolts. The invention comprises a plurality of passageways with one or more one way flow valves along the passageways. The invention enables one or more fluids to be pumped into a hollow rock bolt or other hollow elongate member either sequentially or simultaneously without cross contamination of fluids in another passageway or back flow of fluids along the wrong passageway. The invention is typically used to install self drilling rock bolts whereby a drilling fluid is initially pumped through the hollow bolt during the drilling cycle, and then a two part chemical resin or cement grout is pumped through the hollow bolt to anchor the bolt in the borehole.

  • Publication number: 20130056159
Abstract: The present invention relates to a louvre vane system with a frame, which houses a plurality of vanes within the frame. The vanes can be rotated between an open position, in which the edges of adjacent vanes are spaced apart and a closed position, in which the edges of adjacent vanes abut each other to for:: a substantially continuous surface. When the vanes are in the closed position, a thermal membrane, is formed by the, vanes 14 that prevents drafts and limits heat exchange from one side of the membrane to the other.
