  • Patent number: 11905919
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a power generating apparatus for extracting energy from flowing water. The apparatus comprises a buoyancy vessel, and a turbine assembly coupled to the buoyancy vessel which comprises a turbine rotor mounted to a nacelle, and a support structure. The turbine assembly is pivotally moveable between a first position and a second position. When the power generating apparatus is floating on a body of water, in the first position the nacelle is fully submerged below the water surface; and in the second position at least a part of the nacelle projects above the water surface. Movement of the turbine assembly from the first position to the second position is buoyancy assisted, for example by providing the turbine assembly with positive buoyancy or selectively increasing its buoyancy.

  • Publication number: 20230042159
Abstract: Methodologies and manufacturing processes to manufacture components by electron beam melting additive manufacturing, particularly components of molybdenum or a molybdenum-based alloy and particularly of complex nuclear component geometries. Input parameters are provided for controlling electron beam melting additive manufacturing equipment, such as electron beam melting machines. The input parameters relate to various process steps, including build set-up, initial thermal treatment, initial layering of powder, pre-consolidation thermal treatment, consolidation, post-consolidation thermal treatment, indexing of layers, and post-build thermal treatment. The methodologies and manufacturing processes allow manufacture of components of molybdenum having a purity of ?99.0% and a density of ?99.75%. Metallographic cross-sections of the manufactured molybdenum components were porosity-free and crack-free.

  • Patent number: 11537589
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for enabling a sensor device to receive and transmit updates effectively via one or more rules applied to a plurality of event records for transmission by an event management server. In one exemplary embodiment, the event management server manages the plurality of event records (such as records of deletions or updates to a user's profile or goals), via an event suppression application. The event suppression application ensures that event records are not redundantly provided to the sensor device and/or irrelevant records (such as those which no longer contain the most up-to-date information) are not provided to the sensor device. Hence, only the most relevant event records are provided and that those which are not relevant are ignored (not transmitted). In this manner, the sensor device may operate more efficiently to receive only the most relevant transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11517804
Abstract: A method, a false start detection system, and a false start detection sensor for determining whether an athlete has performed a false start in an event. Force data is received representing the force exerted by at least one upper appendage of the athlete on a surface when in a starting position (S701). The force data is processed to determine an athlete start time (S702), and the athlete start time is compared to an event start time to determine whether a false start has occurred (S703).

  • Patent number: 10928923
Abstract: A key assembly for a keyboard may include a key cap that includes a touch sensor that is communicatively coupled to a control device. When the touch sensor senses a touch event, the touch sensor may send a touch signal to the control device, and when the touch sensor senses an absence of touch, the touch sensor may send a control signal to the control device. The key assembly may further include a switch that is communicatively coupled to the control device and that is movable between a pressed position and an un-pressed position. When the switch is in the pressed position, the switch may send a closed signal to the control device, and when the switch is in the un-pressed position, the switch may send an open signal to the control device. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.
