  • Publication number: 20020122776
Abstract: The present invention relates to oral care compositions with an improved teeth whitening effect. This effect is achieved by inclusion in the oral care compositions of certain organic peroxy acids as teeth whitening/bleaching agents, particularly peroxyamidophthalamides together with hydrogen peroxide.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 11, 2001
    Publication date: September 5, 2002
Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Div. of Conopco , Inc.
Inventors: Andrew Joiner, Philip Christopher Waterfield
  • Patent number: 6165448
Abstract: The present invention relates to oral care compositions with an improved teeth whitening effect. This effect is achieved by inclusion in the oral care compositions of certain organic peroxy compounds as teeth whitening/bleaching agents, particularly peroxyamidophthalamides, sulphoperbenzoic acid, monoperoxyphthalic acid, and (per)acetylatedperboric acid with imine quaternary salts as catalysts for the peroxy compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 1999
Date of Patent: December 26, 2000
Assignee: Chesebrough-Pond's USA Co., division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Andrew Joiner, David William Thornthwaite
  • Patent number: 6153219
Abstract: An oral care composition comprises capsules which comprise an encapsulated gent encapsulated by an encapsulating material stable in the presence of anionic surfactants, said encapsulated agent being capable of providing a cosmetic, sensory, protective or therapeutic benefit to the oral cavity, wherein the capsules' weight average particle size ranges from 100 to 2000 .mu.m and wherein the capsules are capable of being gradually crushed during brushing thereby releasing the encapsulated agent gradually during brushing, the foaming capability being maintained throughout brushing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1999
Date of Patent: November 28, 2000
Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Jonathan Edward Creeth, Andrew Joiner, William John Stead
  • Patent number: 5672351
Abstract: The present invention relates to anti-microbial cosmetic compositions for the care of the human body or parts thereof, comprising derivatives of histatins or fragments thereof. It has been found that the anti-microbial activity of histatins or their fragments can be significantly enhanced by capping them at the C-terminus or at the C- and N-terminus and/or complexing them with anti-microbially-active metal ions. The thus modified histatins and histatin fragments were found to have a significantly increased activity against a range of microbial strains, and were found to be useful as controlled delivery agents for the metal ions. They are suitable for a whole range of anti-microbial applications, such as anti-plaque, and-caries, anti-bad breath oral applications, deodorant applications, personal hygiene applications and so on, for which they are included in any suitable carrier medium. Preferred are the capped derivatives, which have been complexed with Ag, Cu, Zn or Sn.
