  • Patent number: 11090999
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a door protection system (2) for a vehicle (1). The door protection system (2) includes sensor means (10, 11) for detecting an object (O) proximal to the vehicle (1). Processing means (14) are provided to process a signal (S1, S2) received from said sensor means (10, 11) to determine if the detected object (O) obstructs opening of a vehicle door (5, 6). Output means are provided for outputting a suspension control signal (SSUS) to control operation of a vehicle suspension (7) dependence on determining that the detected object (O) obstructs opening of the vehicle door (5, 6). The present disclosure also relates to a vehicle (1); to a method of controlling operation of a vehicle suspension (7); and to an electronic processor (14).

  • Patent number: 9919738
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a control system for a motor vehicle comprising: means for detecting a side-slope condition in which a vehicle is traversing a side-slope; and means for controlling an amount of torque applied to one or more wheels to induce a turning moment on a vehicle, the system being configured to cause a turning moment to be induced in a direction opposing side-slip of a trailing axle in a down-slope direction relative to a leading axle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2014
Date of Patent: March 20, 2018
    Assignee: Jaguar Land Rover Limited
Inventors: Simon Owen, Karl Richards, Andrew Maskell
  • Patent number: 9827982
Abstract: A motor vehicle control system operable in a steering assist mode in which the system is configured to: detect steering angle; and control a distribution of torque to one or more wheels of the vehicle in dependence on the detected steering angle thereby to induce a turning moment in the direction of turn indicated by the steering angle.

  • Patent number: 7762633
Abstract: A motor vehicle has an inclinometer to determine the steepness of the slope upon which the vehicle stands, brakes and a driver brake pedal for generating a braking effort in the brakes. The brakes are also controlled by a brake hydraulic control unit and an electronic control unit. The brake hydraulic control unit is arranged to control the release of the braking effort generated to stop the vehicle on a slope by the brake pedal at a release rate which varies as a function of the steepness of the slope determined by the inclinometer following operation of the brake pedal to release the brakes. The vehicle thus achieves controlled descent of a hill after a stationary position. Such a brake control system is particularly advantageous to a motor vehicle having a hill descent mode.
