  • Patent number: 11553855
Abstract: A device for use in bariatric surgery includes a flexible hollow tube extending from a proximal end to a distal end and defines a channel therebetween. A series of openings is defined in a distal portion of the tube allowing for fixation of tissue using suction. A flexible member has an initial position disposed alongside the tube and is deployable to a subsequent position in which the flexible member engages a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member is configured to be deployable to automatically assume a shape of a greater curvature of a stomach. The flexible member includes a bulging region and a tapering region when deployed. The flexible member is releasably attached to the distal end of the tube.

  • Patent number: 11419609
Abstract: A surgical stapling device is provided and includes a handle assembly and a tubular body portion supported on a distal end of the handle assembly having a staple cartridge assembly containing a plurality of surgical staples in an annular array. An anvil assembly is at a distal end of the stapling device and has a shaft for removably connecting the anvil assembly to the tubular body portion. The anvil assembly and tubular body portion are juxtaposed with respect to one another along the shaft and are arranged so as to be approximated with respect to one another. A support member extends from the tubular body portion towards the anvil assembly and a buttress material is supported by the support member and removably attached to the support member where the buttress material is disposed between the anvil assembly and the staple cartridge assembly.

  • Patent number: 10524947
Abstract: A gastrectomy device includes an elongated member and a tube. The elongated member has a proximal end and a distal end and defines a longitudinal side window disposed adjacent the distal end. The elongated member defines a first longitudinal channel, a second longitudinal channel, and a plurality of side apertures. The first longitudinal channel is in communication with the longitudinal side window and the plurality of side apertures is in communication with the second longitudinal channel. The tube extends through the first longitudinal channel. An array of lights is associated with the tube to provide illumination. The tube is movable through the elongated member between a first state, in which the tube is disposed within the first longitudinal channel of the elongated member, and a second state, in which a portion of the tube extends through the longitudinal side window of the elongated member.
