Abstract: A page is generated in a computer-based format that includes zones in which controls are inserted. The controls can present information or data that the controls obtain from one or more sources. Features such as the location, quantity, and properties of the zones and the controls can be set as desired when creating the page. Furthermore, the page can be created using a graphical layout. The page can be accessed in a computer-based environment, and properties of the controls, such as the size, position, or classification of presented information, can be manipulated while the page is being accessed.

Abstract: A database view generation system for viewing a result set of data extracted from a database by a query. The database view generation system includes selecting a viewpoint from among at least one field set record source of a database sub-schema and generating a view of the result set in at least one level from a perspective of the viewpoint. Generating a view from a viewpoint includes analyzing the sub-schema for connectedness, identifying the sub-schema type, assigning a level indicator value that is indicative of the hierarchical position of record sources in the sub-schema relative to the viewpoint, and displaying a view of the result set based on the level indicator value assigned to each record source containing data in the result set.

Abstract: A system for generating a structured query language query to extract data from a database wherein the database includes a schema defined by a plurality of record sources and a plurality of relationships therebetween. The system includes selecting a field set containing at least one field from among said plurality record sources in said database, and determining a minimal path relationship between each of the plurality of record sources in the database that contain at least one field from the field set. The minimal path relationship includes at least one indirect relationship between two of the plurality of record sources in the database that contain at least one field from the field set. Output from the intelligent joining system is a Structured Query Language (SQL) statement in the syntactical form that a database management system can execute.
