  • Patent number: 10577053
Abstract: A bicycle rear derailleur has a base member mountable to a bicycle frame, a movable member movably coupled to the base member, a chain guide assembly rotatably connected to the movable member, a biasing element configured to bias the chain guide assembly in a first rotational direction relative to the movable member, and a damper device disposed between the chain guide assembly and the movable member. The damper device is operable to apply a damping force to the chain guide assembly when the chain guide assembly rotates in a second rotational direction relative to the movable member. The damper device includes a friction member having a first end and an outer annular surface. The first end is non-rotatably attached to the chain guide assembly. The outer annular surface of the friction member is in frictional engagement with an inner annular surface of the movable member.

  • Patent number: 9005074
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal gear hub for a bicycle includes a rotating cam which locates against a retractable cam follower within a multiple speed internal gear hub. The position of the cam determines which speed is selected. The cam is actuated by reversing the direction of the drive input (pedaling backwards) by a fixed or predetermined amount of rotation. The cam follower is retracted when the drive input is reversed and when the rotation is greater than that required to rotate the cam into the next position. When the cam follower retracts, the cam will return to a default position and will select a default speed.

  • Patent number: 7775963
Abstract: A centrifugal separation rotor for an apparatus, which removes contaminants from a pumped liquid, such as engine lubricant, by rotating it about axis at high speed includes a separation and containment vessel that permit liquid to leave the vessel as fast as it can enter, so that a zone is defined adjacent a side wall that holds a volume of liquid less than the whole volume encompassed by the vessel walls and filled in conventional high speed separators. A divider wall surface is interrupted by a set of upstanding vanes, which extend along it and around the axle as a helix of such pitch as to form both collector vanes to guide liquid entering between the rotating vanes towards the transfer passage. Motor vanes receive one or more jets of liquid impinging thereon at a glancing angle to drive the rotor before being guided along the inlet zone.

  • Patent number: 7597658
Abstract: A rotor (10) for a centrifugal separator (12) for circulated engine lubricant formed by end walls (44, 46) and radially outer and inner side walls (42, 52) that define a separation and containment region (82). Wall (52) is defined by a tubular tension member (50) that surrounds a rotation axis (30) and extends between and through the end walls to keep them in position. Mounted within first and second ends (72, 74) of the tubular tension member are respective first and second end closure plugs (86, 88). Plug (88) has a passage (90) to admit liquid into the tubular member, but otherwise each plug is seated to inhibit passage of liquid from the member end. Each plug comprises a body seated by interference fit and an integral axially extending component (86?, 88?) that forms a mounting pin for mounting the rotor within bearing parts (24, 28) of the housing.

  • Patent number: 7338426
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for separating dirt particles from a fluid includes a separator cylinder, which rotates in a separator housing and into which the fluid to be cleaned is introduced. A detection device for indicating the operating state of the separator cylinder is provided, which includes a radially extending guide tube in which a detection element is accommodated in such a way that the detection element can be outwardly displaced within the guide tube under the influence of centrifugal force when the separator cylinder rotates and can move between a normal position and a contamination-indicating position.

Abstract: A centrifugal separation rotor (130, FIG. 1), for apparatus (110) that removes contaminants from a pumped liquid such as engine lubricant by rotating it about axis (124) at high speed, comprises a separation and containment vessel (132) having impervious side wall (134) spaced from the rotation axis and at least one end wall (138) open at (142) permit liquid to leave the vessel as fast as it can enter, so that a zone (140) is defined adjacent side wall (134) that holds a volume of liquid much less than the whole volume encompassed by the vessel walls and filled in conventional high speed separators. Lower inertia and reduced pressure gradients in the liquid permits it to be spaced further from the axis than is conventional, with improved separation efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20050199533
Abstract: A centrifuge purification filter is provided for purifying a fluid, such as engine lubricating oil. A housing with an integrally cast top portion contains a centrifuge rotor supported on a spindle, which in turn is supported at its top by the integrally formed housing top and retained and radially supported at its opposite end by a removable housing cover. The rotor includes a shell which receives contaminated fluid from the housing inlet via a hollow bore in the spindle. Fluid is discharged through tangential rotor outlet nozzles on the rotor cause the shell to rotate at high speed and thereby cause contaminants in the fluid to migrate to the shell wall. The integrally formed housing top portion may include a bore intersecting the inlet passage, wherein a flow control valve prevents flow into the rotor until inlet pressure reaches a predetermined level and in the event of excessive inlet pressure.

  • Patent number: 6740026
Abstract: A centrifugal separator (10) for an engine includes a rotor (30) mounted within a housing (12, 14) for rotation on hollow spindle (42) to the end of which oil is supplied at high pressure to enter the rotor. To prevent the rotor from flying from the base and oil spraying if the cover (14) is removed without shutting off the oil supply via optional valve (80), a rotor restraint (90) is provided in the form of a ring (91) which surrounds and overlies a flange of the rotor. The ring may be complete or discontinuous and may also include an interlock to prevent attachment of the cover and/or supply of oil if the ring is not in place.
