  • Patent number: 9803181
Abstract: Hybrid alpha-amylases are provided that share a conserved 3D structure in whole or in part with a wild-type Termamyl-like ?-amylase, e.g., a Bacillus amylase. In the hybrid, an N-terminal portion of a Termamyl-like ?-amylase is replaced with sequences from an archae ?-amylase. The sequence similarity between the two amylase sequences may be less than 60%. Conserving the wild-type 3D structure in the hybrid facilitates obtaining enzymatically active amylases. In one embodiment, one or both amylase sequences contribute residues to the B domain, resulting in particularly advantageous properties. For instance, replacement of the Ca2+ binding site in the B domain of the Termamyl-like ?-amylase with a B domain sequence of an archae ?-amylase that does not bind Ca2+ can produce a hybrid that is fully active in the absence of Ca2+.

  • Publication number: 20170248449
Abstract: A modular sensor for a fluidic analysis or biological assay system, such as an analytical instrument system, and other systems involving fluid flow, includes a cap and base which include one or more sensors therein, which may be a flow sensor, a pressure sensor, a temperature sensor, a pH sensor, and so forth. The base of the modular sensor includes input and output ports for fluid passageways therethrough to provide a fluid pathway which is at least partially adjacent to or near the sensor. The modular sensor may also include an adapter having ports adapted to sealingly engage with fitting assemblies. The sensor may be partially or wholly encapsulated as part of the base of the modular sensor. The modular sensor's base and cap are adapted so that a first modular sensor can be disconnected and removed from a fluidic system and a second modular sensor can be added and connected to the system in place of the first modular sensor.

  • Patent number: 9713453
Abstract: A physiologic transmitter manages multiple communications between physiologic data acquisition devices attached to the patient and a receiver attached to an MRI or CT scanner. The transmitter's processor is able to generate waveform data and trigger data based upon the acquired physiologic data and transmit the data to a physiologic receiver attached to the host scanner. The receiver then is able to deliver a trigger signal to the host scanner for imaging the patient during a selected time frame based upon cardiac and/or respiratory cycles of the patient.

  • Patent number: 9485649
Abstract: A wireless mesh network includes a plurality of wireless devices and a gateway organized in a multi hop mesh topology. Each wireless device maintains and reports radio statistics to the gateway, and also reports battery conditions of its power source. The device manager communicates with the gateway and provides an alert indicating existence of a pinch point within the mesh network based upon the radio statistics. When a low battery condition is reported by a device, the device manager determines whether loss of that device is a pinch point or will cause a pinch point, and provides a low battery alert prioritized based upon the pinch point analysis.
