  • Patent number: 11484413
Abstract: Provided herein are implants and methods for producing implants. In at least one embodiment, the implants include sheet-based, triply periodic, minimal surface (TPMS) portions. According to one embodiment, the TPMS portions include a gyroid architecture that provides for improved osseointegration and mechanical performance over previous implants due to novel ratios of porosity to compressive strength, among other features. In one or more embodiments, the gyroid architecture is organized into unit cells that demonstrate anisotropic mechanical performance along an insertion direction. In various embodiments, the present methods include novel selective laser melting (SLM) techniques for forming the TPMS portions of implants in a manner that reduces defect formation, thereby improving compressive performance and other implant properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 7, 2021
Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
    Assignees: RESTOR3D, INC., DUKE UNIVERSITY
Inventors: Andrew Todd Miller, Matthew Rexrode, Cambre Kelly, Ken Gall

  • Patent number: 10889053
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to custom medical devices and additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes for producing the same. Using certain materials and novel fabrication techniques, the present systems and methods can directly print nearly any size or shape medical device or instrument. For example, in certain embodiments, the present systems and methods leverage stereolithography (“SLA”) and photo-curable polymers to produce custom, radiopaque medical devices and instruments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2019
Date of Patent: January 12, 2021
    Assignee: RESTOR3D, INC.
Inventors: Andrew Todd Miller, Nathan Timothy Evans
  • Patent number: 10850442
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices, including airway stents, and additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes for producing the same. Using certain materials and novel printing techniques, the present systems and methods can directly print nearly any size or shape medical device in a few hours. For example, in certain embodiments, the present systems and methods leverage fused deposition modeling (“FDM”) and polycarbonate urethane (“PCU”) to produce custom medical devices, including airway stents.

  • Publication number: 20180111991
Abstract: The invention provides methods and uses for stimulating, inducing, increasing or enhancing Tfh (follicular helper) cell differentiation, germinal center B cell development or an antibody response, and an immune response by administering activin or a subsequence thereof, or an activator of activin receptor, in an amount effective to stimulate, induce, increase or enhance Tfh (follicular helper) cell differentiation, germinal center B cell development or an antibody response, and an immune response, respectively. Also provided are peptides comprising or consisting of a subsequence of human activin sequence, in which the activin sequence or subsequence stimulates, induces, increases or enhances development of Tfh (follicular helper) cell differentiation, germinal center B cell development, an antibody response, an immune response and/or an immune response induced by a vaccine.
