  • Patent number: 11886018
Abstract: A fiber optic connector that includes a connector body comprising a ferrule retaining portion, a pusher engagement portion and a body cable passage extending through the pusher engagement portion and the ferrule retaining portion. The connector includes a ferrule assembly structurally configured to be retained by the ferrule retaining portion with an optical fiber bore of the ferrule assembly in alignment with the body cable passage. The connector includes a pusher structurally configured to axially engage the pusher engagement portion with a pusher cable passage in alignment with the body cable passage, and a collapsing cantilevered gasket structurally configured to form an axially compressed sealing interface between the connector body and the pusher and an omnidirectionally compressed sealing interface between the gasket and a cable passing through a cable passage of the gasket.

  • Publication number: 20170242203
Abstract: A fiber optic connector is described herein. The fiber optic connector includes a ferrule for supporting at least one optical fiber of a fiber optic cable, a ferrule holder from which the ferrule extends, a housing in which the ferrule holder is received, and a strain relief device at least partially located within the housing. The strain relief device has at least one resilient clamping member selectively applying a compressive force to at least a portion of the fiber optic cable. The strain relief device also has an actuator at least partially surrounding the ferrule holder, and used to place the at least one resilient clamping member into compressed contact with the fiber optic cable, thus retaining the fiber optic cable within the housing.

  • Publication number: 20160054531
Abstract: An optical communication cable is provided. The cable includes a cable sheath including an inner surface defining a channel within the cable sheath and a plurality of buffer tubes located in the channel of the cable sheath. Each buffer tube including an outer surface, an inner surface and a channel defined by the inner surface of the buffer tube. The cable includes a plurality of optical fibers located within the channel of each buffer tube. The cable includes a friction structure located on at least one of the inner surface of the sheath and the outer surfaces of each of the plurality of buffer tubes and the friction created by the friction structure provides resistance to cable deformation under loading, such as crush loading.
