    Abstract: A moisture sensor that has a drive electrode and a separate sense electrode is described. Both electrodes have surfaces that face the sensed material and the surfaces are co-planar. The drive electrode receives an excitation signal and generates an electric field that produces a current in the sense electrode. The current is indicative of moisture in the sensed material.

    Abstract: A system for preventing the cleaning of the diesel particulate filter (116) comprises an electronic control unit (200) coupled to a proximity sensor (122), the electronic control unit (200) being configured to monitor the proximity sensor (122) and to determine that there is a predetermined distance between the proximity sensor and an adjacent structure (124) before the electronic control unit (200) will regenerate the diesel particulate filter (116). A method for preventing the cleaning of the diesel particulate filter (116) comprises the steps of electronically monitoring a proximity sensor to determine a distance from the proximity sensor to an adjacent structure, electronically comparing the distance to a threshold distance, and electronically preventing the cleaning of the diesel particulate filter (116) when the distances less than the threshold distance.

    Abstract: A voltage regulator circuit provides an economical approach for maintaining the RMS filament voltage of vacuum fluorescent tubes within an acceptable voltage range during input supply voltage variations. The regulator circuit includes substantially identical upper and lower clipper circuits which clip the AC voltage of a step-down transformer secondary. The supply voltage is allowed to vary so that the secondary voltage is outside of the acceptable range of voltage defined by substantially identical voltage reference circuits. Each of the voltage reference circuits is coupled to its respective clipper circuit and to the center tap of the secondary winding of the transformer so that the regulator circuit and the clipped output voltage are symmetrical about the center tap. Th regulator circuit is simple and power-efficient while keeping the filament voltage within the acceptable range of voltages.
