  • Patent number: 11846182
Abstract: A hybrid telemetry system includes a plurality of telemetry networks configured to communicate a modulated signal representing digital data along adjoining sections of a pipe string. The plurality of telemetry networks may each be optimized or particularly suitable for the configuration of the pipe string, the well, and/or the environment of the well occurring in each of the adjoining sections. Some of the plurality of telemetry networks may overlap to provide redundancy of the communication of the digital data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 12, 2022
Date of Patent: December 19, 2023
Inventors: John-Peter Van Zelm, Andy Hawthorn

  • Publication number: 20130301389
Abstract: A method for synchronizing an actuation of a seismic source with at least one of an acquisition and storage of an acoustic wave by a seismic tool having steps of determining at least one of a drilling pause and a seismic measurement, transmitting a trigger signal to a tool controller, actuating the seismic source; receiving the trigger signal and recording seismic waves in a data storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8567526
Abstract: A method of steering a drilling operation of a well using rock stress measurements. The method includes obtaining well data from at least one logging while drilling tool in the well, where the well data includes stress direction information, generating, using a central processing unit (CPU), a well trajectory using survey data from the well, where the well trajectory includes a borehole direction, determining, using the CPU, a direction of minimum horizontal stress using the well data, and comparing, using the CPU, the direction of minimum horizontal stress to the borehole direction to determine that a directional criteria is not satisfied. The method further includes in response to determining that the directional criteria is not satisfied, generating an updated well trajectory that satisfies the directional criteria and adjusting the drilling operation using the updated well trajectory.
