  • Patent number: 4770601
Abstract: A protection system for pump shaft bearings which are exposed to water or water combined with various particulate material when the pump and the shaft or a portion thereof are immersed in the water or combined water and particulate material which is being pumped. The protection system includes an enclosing chamber associated with the bearing or bearings supporting the pump shaft which are immersed in the material being pumped with the enclosing chamber being filled with grease exiting from the bearing so that the pressurized lubricant to the bearing will maintain the enclosing chamber filled with grease to exclude the material being pumped from the enclosing chamber and bearing assembly disposed therein. The enclosing chamber is associated with and connected to a conventional flanged shaft bearing and includes grease seals associated with the pump shaft to maintain the interior of the enclosing chamber in isolated relation to exterior environmental conditions.

  • Patent number: 4175916
Abstract: A pump supported from a wheeled trailer having a hitch connection with a tractor drawbar and a drive connection with the power take-off of the tractor with the pump including dual inlets enabling it to be backed into a ditch, sump, concrete canal, sewage lagoon, or the like. The hitch includes an elevated central portion defined by upwardly angulated portions rigidly connected at the center to facilitate the pump and its supporting frame and wheels being easily backed into and operated in relatively deep ditches. A drive shaft includes a universal joint supported at the apex of the angulated portions of the hitch so that the portion of the drive shaft connected to the tractor power take-off will be substantially in alignment with the power take-off on the tractor when the pump and its supporting frame and wheels are positioned in a deep ditch, sump, concrete canal, or the like.

  • Patent number: 3951810
Abstract: A skimmer for removal of a layer of oil or other floating pollutants from the surface of a body of water incorporating a sump box having a pump disposed therein for conveying material from the sump box into a floating barge, vessel or other area. A free floating weir forming means is disposed forwardly of the sump box and connected and communicated therewith in such a manner that the weir forming means may vary in elevational relation to the sump box without the sump box being elevationally varied in relation to the surface of the water. The weir forming means is supported by float means which orients the weir of the weir forming means in desired relationship to the surface of the water.
