    Abstract: A concrete block and a concrete block set for building a segmental retaining wall. Each block of the block set comprises front and back faces connected together by side walls extending between a top surface and a bottom surface. The shapes of the side walls create a lateral interlock system between adjacent blocks, and one of the side walls is preferably inwardly bevelled. Each block of the block set also comprises a longitudinal slot on the bottom surface. The blocks forming a first subset of the block set are provided with a vertical connector centered between said front and back faces, on the top surface, and sized to fit into the longitudinal slot located on the bottom surface of a block positioned immediately above in a segmental retaining wall. The blocks forming a second subset are not provided with such a vertical connector.

This clamp allows the user to move SRW blocks from a shipping pallet to a wall. The clamp and blocks are lifted using traditional construction machinery such as a backhoe, crane, bobcat, etc. The significant innovation of this clamp/block system is the ability to lift and place more than one large segmental retaining wall block with each installation cycle, substantially increasing installation efficiency.

    Abstract: A facing element for at least partially covering a structure. The facing element has at least one pair of first and second rigid engagement connectors affixed to a rear surface of the facing element. Each of the first and second engagement connectors forms first and second apertures between the connectors and the rear surface of the facing element. The first and second apertures are coaxially located. The facing element also has at least one joining bar joining the first and second engagement connectors. The top portion of the facing element is hung to the structure by means of the first engagement connector. Contact of the bottom portion of the facing element with the structure is offset by the second engagement connector. A method for fabricating such a facing element is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A segmented retaining wall block has one side wall that is rearwardly tapered so as to allow the block to turn a radius when placed in adjacent position with respect to another similar block. The block also has a rear wall provided with a protruding wing that projects laterally away from the tapered side wall. The rear wall is also provided with a bay that extends inwardly in the side wall that is opposite to the tapered side wall. The wing and bay have front edges designed as congruent arcs. The wing may be sized and shaped so as to protrude into the bay of an adjacent similar block to create a barrier when the adjacent blocks are in straight, convex or concave alignment for preventing infiltration of backfill material such as soil, into voids that exist between the backs of the blocks when installed.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a multiple retaining wall block unit provided with at least one set of splitting grooves positioned in such a manner as to permit splitting and separation of the blocks from the unit. The invention lies in that the set of splitting grooves is located along the unit in such a manner that the adjacent blocks that can be splitted, are not of a same length. As a result, the blocks when stacked on top of each other, have their front faces that do not extend necessarily in the same place, thereby giving more originality to the look of the retaining wall.
